So as I am putting away 'matched' socks and undies, hanging items of clothing on hangers, I get some strange looks...I love it...everyone in this household thinks I have lost my mind...thats proof of the disaray...I should say, this is not something I will be doing daily...remember the challenge was something UNEXPECTED... A UFO could have landed in the den and no one would have been the wiser cuz, 'mama was putting away undies IN THE DRAWER and not stuffing them under the bed' go figure....
Okay how was your day 2? Have you seen the movie Fireproof, if you have what did you think? Have you bought the Love Dare book yet? Are you doing the love dare on your blog? Let me know in the comments...
Day 3~ Love Is Not Selfish
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor. --Romans 12:10
Dare:
"What you invest your time and money into will determine what you have chosen to love. Your heart will be inclined to what you invest in. Today, buy something unexpected for your spouse as a way of showing them that they are what you value most."
This one is/will be hard for me, I am gonna be honest 'I tune him out' Sad I know BUT I am working on this... and I am keepin it real here on Decisionally Challenged by admitting that he is the hardest person to buy for NOT because he doesn't say things he likes BUT rather I choose not to listen...
Eric is on nights so I think I will look for a hunting magazine for nightly reading material OR I will rent him Pineapple Express(he has been wanting to see this movie) to watch while he passes away the late night hours...this will be unexpected and remember this doesn't have to be diamonds and pearls or guns and ammo...baby steps...
My confession for today: I dare you to take this challenge with me...and watch it change your life...
I like this one. I will do it tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteYes, sometimes it is the small acts of kindness that really speak loudly. Don't have to spend TONS of money!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm curious about seeing this done by real people in real time. I think it's very resourceful of you to do this. I'm SURE you'll encourage others as you move forward. I'm cheering for you!!
ReplyDelete:) I'm anxious to see what comes out of this 40 day challenge.
ReplyDeleteOkay, putting away undies and socks, you really are serious about this... lol j.k.
ReplyDeleteI'm proud of you for sticking with it so far!
xoxo Tiff
I love that you're doing this where we can see!
ReplyDeleteI'm also terrible about putting laundry away! We just let it pile up until we have peopel coming and need to tidy. Cleaning is no problem - but the finer parts of tidy are hard. LOL
ReplyDeleteI don't put away his clothes anymore and I used to when the kids were home! I feel badly about it...I just stopped doing it! I am wondering if it bothers him and why I stopped. It seems like such a small and thoughtful gesture...I think it is an excellent idea!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a cool idea! I will do this too! I put the laundry in each indi. basket and think I am doing good!
ReplyDeleteGood for you, G! I saw this movie a couple weeks ago. I thought the movie was just ok, but the story line and idea behind it was good.
ReplyDeleteI will have to think about this one. My husband doesn't really care about "things" and honestly, he has everything he wants, at least everything that is within our budget! I'll have to think of a nice surprise - something he doesn't even KNOW he wants!
ReplyDeleteSo we are doing this. We are doing it together. We picked the 'notes' randomly so we have not gotten this one yet. But I think that I will really think about this one. My husband likes family time more than anything....and I am with the kids all freaking day so when he gets home I like to disapear. This whole Love Dare thing has really made a difference in how we have been communicating. I am enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! I'm going to have to go back and catch up. I'll be looking forward to your weekly updates!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great idea. I will have to think about it. Tom is really hard to be for also. He usually ends up buying all his presents. How sad is that.
ReplyDeleteOk, Ok I'm going to find my book. Now where did I put that thing?!?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration : )
Georgie,
ReplyDeleteYou are very inspiring. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Hey, when you're done your 40 day challenge, wanna come help me put away my laundry? :)
Hmmmmmm..... will have to give this one some big thought, Georgie. I like it.
ReplyDeletegeorgie...i am doing pretty good on the dares...i know it is only day 3 but so far not so bad!!!!! i bought everybody in my family a small gift today when i was out getting one for my husband!!!!! how fun...it always makes me feel good to buy gifts for others!!!!
ReplyDeleteThatManILove and I watched the movie last night.
ReplyDeleteI loved it. He liked it.
Tonight, he's in there watching TV and I'm in here blogging.
And I didn't fold any socks or stuff like that.
I think I'd better be one week behind you so I can start out right.
Yikes.
I really like this Love Dare thing you are doing. I wanted to see Fireproof at the theater last year but it was at so few and I just didn't take the time to find it. It is on my blockbuster list though so I'll move it up the queue. I applaud your efforts and for realizing while mr. gp is not "all that" right now, neither are you. First step is always to work on yourself, change your behavior and then the magic will happen. God Bless and I hope you see some positive changes within the 40 days....I say, if not, keep at it!
ReplyDeleteGreat, Georgie. I love that you were thinking of buying him a hunting mag.
ReplyDeleteI finally got him an Ipod Touch. He loves it! And he let me have some more plates that I love collecting! Love this Day!
ReplyDeletehi luvmayo here. i also am on day now. 3/17/09. i have never bloged and just aaccidentaly found you. ReplyDeleteThis is so cool and helpful. I have been married for 13 years, my husband is fun, but I don't think I have been for a long time. I am starting this tomorrow. May God bless our marriages and let us be highly favored with our husbands. May we be like crowns to their heads and no longer rotteness to thier bones.
