Caller ID

My home phone died sometime this week-I couldn't tell you when, I was to self absorb in things that shall remain private BUT I will say-on Thursday I was like wow I haven't met my quota for telemarketer calls this week-so I pick up the cordless and nothing, nadda it was dead-I have a minor freakout session then I search for the corded phone-that hangs up on peeps not because it is possessed but because it is like 70 yrs old...

I plug in the corded phone and it rings-I just stand there staring at it-the corded phone has NO caller ID-I have another minor freakout session as it continues to ring...

My confession for today: If you have been tryin to call me and I haven't answered it's nothing personal okay? Just as soon as I get a new phone WITH caller ID I will again be answerin my phone-until then I am unplugging this fossil and enjoying the quiet

  1. To be tied to a corded phone? How retro! We need a new battery on the cordless, so after about 10 minutes, conversation over!

  2. I just saw a picture of a pink corded phone from the 1960s. I immediately pictured that when you were talking about your phone. How fun.

  3. I wouldn't answer either. Caller ID is essential.

  6. Many parts of Southern Utah looks like the Arizona red. We are at the base of a mountain and have the mountains and the desert red. It seriously is the best of both worlds!!

  7. Caller ID is the best. I would do the same exact thing as you are doing. Who knows who it could be on the line?

  13. In an attempt to save some money I canceled caller id :( Now I just let the answering machine pick up all calls.

  14. I never answer my phone unless it is someone I know. My husband picks it up every time without looking and when they ask for me (I'm the one listed) he hands it over. After 3 years, you'd think he'd learn.
    He drives me insane!

  19. I KNOW!!! We've all become freaks about caller ID. Even my kids are freaks now.

There was time when caller ID saved my sanity. It's a long story..and worth it's own blog post. But it did. And I love it. Amen.

  21. I don't blame you! It takes a special kind of person to answer a phone without caller ID!!

  22. Ha! I have a coworker (Milton) who does not have caller id on her phone. She picks her phone every time it rings when she's home. All because she doesn't want to pay the small fee it costs to make her digital phone tell her who is on the other end. She scares me sometimes!

    P.S.
I got my package on Saturday!! Woohoo!! I will blog about it on Tuesday but I thought I should let you know.

  25. Wow, I haven't been here for awhile - did you change your site, it looks great. But I have the same problem with my internet - now that we live in the middle of nowhere my internet is no longer the trusted BFF that it once was.
