Today I would like to invite you all to take a trip with me-to one of my FAVORITE places to visit.
Eureka Springs, Ar.- mr gp and I have been visiting this lil Romantic Victorian town for 14 yrs now, I took my first 'mommies jubilee' to ES, we take the beans there and of course for the past 11 years we have spent our wedding anniversary there.
We 'vowed' to always take the time once a year on our anniversary and re-visit,re-new and re-relationship ourselves. It was the best re-decision we ever made...
To some of you I will sound like a whack job and thats okay-because I will speak of this town like a person that you can't get enough of,can't get out of your head and even dream about...YES it has that kind of 'hold' over you-but it's a good thing...
Eureka Springs is the ONLY place I never feel like I need a vacation from my vacation-I am a better person just having spent time there-seriously...The minute you enter the city limits a calm comes over you-it is like you took a step back in time, when stoplights didn't exsist, with it's one of a kind shops, art galleries, spas, superb dining options, history and with over 2500 room choices to make your stay perfect, you are likely to come away a changed person as well.
Here are some pics from our Summer trip...
Basin Park
One of the many shops
Eureka Springs Court-house
View of DownTown ES
These pics were taken during spring break when I took lilest bean for a 'mommy & me' trip
another view of downtown ES
The Majestic Cresent Hotel in the distance
A closer view
Christ of the Ozarks
St Elizabeth's Church-you enter through the Bell Tower
lilest bean at the Ozark Mountain Hoe Down
So I will sit here and scour the net to find the perfect place for our 12th anniversary-even though all I have to do is close my eyes and I can picture every lodging establishment in town-instead I will visit website after website mentally planning our trip-where we will stay, where we will dine and perhaps meet a local or two.
It is a wonderful addiction I have...those of you that have had the pleasure of visiting this enchanting town know of what I speak, those of you that haven't should save your pennies and plan a trip-I promise it will be worth it...
In the coming weeks and months I am going to ask a favor of you....HELP ME PLAN MY TRIP-more specifically help me pick a lodging choice-I promise it is NOT as easy as it sounds...
To get the ball rolling here are 2 of the MANY places I am considering-what I am asking is that you pick one of the two that will be in the running and once I get through my list-with your help, I will put up a poll and you my wonderful, fantastic peeps will choose where mr gp and I stay for our 12th wedding anniversary.
The first place is The Benton Place Inn
which is located right downtown on a lil side street-the Benton Place has 3 suites with the Benton suite being it's grandest and my choice from this establishment-we have stayed here before but not in the Benton suite
The next choice is Twilight Terrace
also located downtown for easy access to shops and dining and a BIG draw we have never stayed here PLUS the name reminds me of a certain vampire
You can click on both property names above to get a better idea and see more pics then please leave me a comment stating which is your fav and why...
Those of you that help me plan my trip will have your name entered for a very special gift from Eureka Springs-name will be drawn before I leave-very special gift will be sent when I return home-anyone can play but I can only ship very special gift to those residing in the U.S.
My confession for today: I can't wait to see which place you pick...
P.S.
Look for 2 more lodging options later this week-once I get 5 or 6 or 10 places I will post a poll-they don't call me decisionally challenged for nuttin!
What a beautiful little town! And those hotels look amazing!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, this makes me want to pack up and get out of town!
Twiligt: Forks, Edward, Bella, Alice, Jasper, James (yes even James), Charlie (not Rosalie), Emmett, Esme, Carlisle, Angela but not Jessica, Jacob and stoopid little Tyler.
ReplyDeleteThat's why.
What a lovely place!!! I'm totally adding it to the places I want to visit someday!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary.....by Feb I know I will forget, so take it while the gettin' is good!
I just typed a long ass comment and blogger screwed up! Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!
ReplyDeleteShort version this time. I'd pick the Twilight based on those two choices.
The last time we went we stayed at the tweady house (I think that was what it was called. I'll have to check.) The people where sooooo nice and the food was delish!!
The first time we went with another couple. The place we stayed sucked. I don't think that B&B is still in business.
My friend and I did a spa day at the bath house. It was awesome! Left there to get a tattoo at JuJuz.
We also went on the ghost tour at the crescent hotel.
I have never been there--but it looks like I'm going to have to go! Looks like a cute little place! I'd go with Twilight Terrace--I love the "lodgy" (probably not a real word) feel of it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous place. I love historic looking places. I'd love to go there!
ReplyDeleteI'm diggin' the twilght place. It looks warm and the bed looks extra bouncy! ha.
ReplyDeleteI love the Twilight Terrace! It doesn't look motel-y. I love the stone on the walls and the decor. Ya know that's what I would be concentrating on doing the nekkid pretzel. I wanna go!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog! I love this quaint little city! My pick is the first inn because of that decadent soaking jacuzzi tub...ahhh! Which every you chose I'm sure it will be fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI've never been there but it looks beautiful. And out of those two, I'd pick the Twilight one. Can't wait to see more! Have fun planning your trip, the planning is half the fun! :)
ReplyDeleteHands down, Twilight Terrace. It looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI have only stayed at the Cresent and it was fun! It is nice too.
I like the TWilight Terrace, it just has a certain something.
ReplyDeleteYour first choice had me sold when I saw that wonderful tub. I'm a big tub girl. Plus that balcony looks AMAZING. But then I thought a bit about that bright red carpet. And the more I thought, the more that eyeball stabbing red color bothered me. Tacky. Plus the decor overall just seems - I don't know lacking the right style. I feel like I fell into the 80s or something. The walls, the floor, even the curtains are all busy doing something different. The mixture of patterns and textures leaves my head spinning.
ReplyDeleteTwilight Terrace, although possibly whirlpool tubless, looks so much more relaxing. It looks like a small slice of the town nessled right in where it belongs. The stone walls, the hardwood floors - LOVELY, almost breath taking. When I compare the two places photos I get an immediate sense of relaxation from Twilight Terrace. It's the kind of place I could really relax in.
I insist you to to Twilight Terrace, and that you somehow pack me along in your suitcase :-D
OK I checked out TT's website and saw this:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.eurekaspringsterrace.com/bathroom_2.jpg
It DOES have a nice tub after all.
It's settled. Twilight Terrace hands down.
Although the tub almost got me...The Twilight Terrace is so beautiful. If I was rich, that is what my house would look like.
ReplyDeleteI've never been, but it looks beautiful there!!
ReplyDeletewowzer those are some fancy digs there, i love a nice B&B. this looks like a couple of real sweet spots.
ReplyDeletequestion? where is your player hidden. its on auto start and is super disracting to all of your bloggy goodness. hard to feel the serenity with J-Lo doing her thang in the background! ;)
This place sounds wonderful! Thanks for stopping by today! I loved reading your blog posts! I'll be back!
ReplyDeletelooks like a piece of heaven! Love the name of your blog by the way! Thanks for stopping over at my place from SITS!
ReplyDeleteMy parents went there once and my Dad (who is very country and sheltered) didn't know what a rainbow in the front window of a bar meant. So they went in and ordered a beer. My Mom said she has never seen him down a beer that fast before and then they were off to the next bar.
ReplyDeleteTwilight Terrace looks more cozy and romantic to me. They other place just seems to formal and not as relaxing to me. Although Twilight Terrace might having you scream "Oh Edward" at night instead LOL
ReplyDeleteBBL, when I have more time to research these gems.
ReplyDeleteSo far I like the first one better. I am a sucker for a bath tub like that.
ReplyDeleteMy pick is Twilight Terrace. That room looks amazing! I have a friend that goes to ES each year and just loves it. It is someplace that I would like to visit.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog today! My dad moved to Williford, AR this year and when I visited, I stayed in Hardy, AR. I know what you mean about it being so relaxed, it was so nice!!
ReplyDeleteEureka Springs is beautiful!! It's so nice to see someone speak of my home state!!! I've actually only been there once!! I know, that's crazy! Hopefully I can go again sometime!! Thanks for stopping by my blog, Hope to see ya back sometime! By the way I like the Twilight Terrace better just by looking and reading about those 2!
ReplyDeleteI love the tub from the first choice, but the Twilight Terrace would be my choice, hands down. Love the stone work.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. Love your blog background.
Hey I'm a Eureka Part-timer myself. We love it so much we finally got our own place there. But I will say of the first two options, I'd go for number two, Twilight Terrace. Why, because I know it is newly redone, and gorgeous and hidden away but right in the midst of all the action so you can walk anywhere you want. Not to mention, they recently donated a retreat package to our auction for the art school, where I volunteer. But, now hmm? What are your other options? I can say that I think Twilight beats about anything I know of in town for romantic weekend getaways, except my place, which is not available to rent. Boo hoo!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog.
ReplyDeleteAs for my pick. Ummm...none. I'm a city girl. That place kinda looks like a Steven King movie. LOL! I like the one with the huge bathtub.

ReplyDeleteMy mother-in-law just got back from a weekend trip there with her hubbie...she loved it!
Otherwise...Twilight Terrace!
Looks like a lovely place to vacation.
ReplyDeleteI would totally go with the Twilight Terrace, oh yes I would.
i vote twilight terrace, although they both look DIVINE! and yes, what a great addiction to have. won't it be great to pass down a lifetime of memories from such a special place.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog.
ReplyDeleteI would go to Trip Advisor and the one with the best reviews is the place. That site really has never steared us wrong.
Also, I am putting this place on my "places to go" list. It sounds just divine!
My anniversary is in Feb too. Valentine's Day. Awwwww....
Hey thanks for coming by! I LOVE Eureka Springs...we like to stay at the haunted Crescent!! It can be freaky! I totally agree with you about it being relaxing and it's oh so romantic!!
ReplyDeleteStay at the Twilight Terrace...hope it's a great anniversary.
OH the twlight one!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe freaking Twilight one!!! Twilight!!Twilight!!! Do it!! I don't care about any of the rest. Do the Twilight one!!!
ReplyDeleteLove love love the Twilight one!! It has a much more warm color scheme and seems more romantic and cozy.
ReplyDeleteHey Georgie! I think I deleted my other comment. Anyway, your blog looks great!
ReplyDeleteI love the Eureka pics. I went there on vacay with my family in sixth grade. Such a wonderful memory.
BTW, I sent Flower Girl a message on Facebook tonight and told her you were asking about her!
I am liking the Twilight Terrace for several reason's that I will keep to myself. That is so cool about your anniversary every year.
ReplyDeleteHello! This is Leslie (Girl) from the Ozark Mountain Hoe-Down. I just started a brand new website selling packages at www.eurekaspringspackages.com and there is a wonderful honeymoon/anniversary package there. Check it out, and come see us again at the Hoe-Down!
ReplyDeleteSold! I want to go there so badly now!
ReplyDeleteThe pictures are beautiful!
Thanks for stopping by! We Okies do need to stick together :)...
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping in at my blog! I like Twilight - I do not like the decor at Benton and as an architect it is a hugely important part for me.
ReplyDeleteOf course I am from Ohio and have never even heard of this place! lol but I will have to take a closer look as I just LOVE your pictures and I love small towns like these!
ReplyDeleteI have spent many weekend there! I personally prefer the Twilight Terrace, but my all time favorite was the Palce Bathhouse. I'm funny that way!
ReplyDeleteI would soooooooooooooooooooooooo pick Twilight Terrace!!! I like the Rustic look!!!! Plus you have never stayed there!!!! =)
ReplyDeleteWe love it there! We have stayed at the Cresent Hotel before. It's been awhile since we have been back. Looking at your pictures makes me want to go back! Your pictures were great!
ReplyDeleteGeorgie thanks so much for stopping by my blog. I just love SITS. I wanted to let you know that I am done with my craft. Come on back and let me know what you think. Have a great day. I'll be back.
ReplyDeleteI'm going with 2. The tub and view in the first one are to die for, but hotel 2 looks relaxing.
ReplyDeleteYou should link this post.. or even.. the confessional booth post ( or both) on my Wednesday Link Day! http://nowenteringmomville.blogspot.com
I like the look of the Twilight terrace better, myself. The area looks like a lovely place to visit!
ReplyDeleteI can't pick! They're both beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI do this too. My girlfriends and I go away to Ohio's Hocking Hills each year and I start planning it months in advance and spend forever on the internet looking at the pictures. Only, we stay at the SAME PLACE every year! So, I'm looking at pictures of something that is totally familiar to me! I get WAY too excited for that trip.
I went there when I was a little girl, but don't remember much of it. I'd absolutely love to go back and make it a special place with Greg. It looks sweet and quiant! I love towns like that!
ReplyDeleteBased solely on the pictures, I'm torn between the AMAZING bathtub in the first place, and those georgeous stone walls in the second. Off to plan my imaginary trip!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for an anniversary get-away! Can I come, too? (Just kidding. Kind of. I promise I will stay out of the way.)
ReplyDeleteMy vote is definitely for the Twilight Terrace. Hello, just the thought of Edward Cullen would be enough to get me feeling romantically inclined toward my husband. Just sayin'.
Good luck with the planning! That's practically the best part.
I have to go with the 2nd one because it has Twilight in the name!
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Arkansas - but I'm seriously considering following you all out to ES! Looks Marvelous!
ReplyDeleteI'd pick the Twilight place. Love the walls.
I love this place. I can't believe we missed this place when we lived in MS. I'd never even heard of it before. But I could definitely use a vacation right about now.
ReplyDeleteObviously you don't need my help because the answer is Twilight Terrace. Hardwood over icky red carpet any day!
ReplyDeleteI think its awesome that you do this for your anniversary----very cool
ReplyDeleteSo, here it is almost 3 years later and I stumble across my dear old friend Georgie's blog about Twilight Terrace while searching for info on it. I just booked it this morning for War Eagle weekend. I don't even know if you will get this or not, but if so, I'm dying to know where you ended up staying. I stayed at Benton Place for April Diversity in 06 and would love to hear what you thought of either location. Miss you girl!
