Tis the Season

A quick update on middle bean...
He said something he shouldn't have said at school...I pitched a fit because while what he said shouldn't have been said-it did not warrant suspension...it was ignorance pure and simple...

On to happier things...

smoochiefrog has recieved her SSS gift-click on her name to see what her SSS sent her. Has smoochiefrog figured out her SSS exchange partner yet?

The Holiday season is upon us and that makes me extra happy-I Love this time of year. The Christmas commercials have started, Christmas lights have already started going up around my town and I am ready to sit down and start addressing my Christmas Cards so I can have them ready to mail on Black Friday.

Speaking of black Friday are any of you crazy and get up early the day after Thanksgiving and participate? I have never camped out or woke at 3am to go get in any line-I have seen the news pieces and they scare me. Gottadeal already has black fridays ads posted with many more to come this week I linked for those of you that enjoy the thrill and want an early peek of the ads.

On to Thanksgiving...this year we are going to my MIL's on Wednesday where we will feast on Turkey and Dressing-she makes the BEST sausage dressing EVER-I know it's not very traditional but it is for her house and I look forward to it every year-she also makes the BEST home made lemon pie and those that know me know I am not a huge sweet eater BUT I could eat an entire lemon pie all by myself.

Do you have any family traditions starting with Thanksgiving? We typically put our tree up that night and watch Christmas Vacation then head out to Rhema and see all the Christmas lights. Lilest bean will go to my moms on that Friday and decorate her tree-we will eat and be merry-Moms house is the FUN House for Christmas and will get it's own post when we get closer to Christmas.

The Holiday season is a busy one for us, so for Thanksgiving I try and keep things simple-I stress easily-ask anyone who knows me. During Christmas we visit 4 different family homes with a Christmas party or 2 thrown in the mix, oldest and middle bean will visit at least 8-it's crazy I tell ya.

My confession for today: Jesus is the Reason for the Season

  1. OH...are you not supposed to identify yourself when you send your package? So when?

  2. I USED to put up my tree on Thanksgiving but hubby burned my tree last year. It was a shitty little tree from when we first got married. He wants a real one this year but I know the damn dogs will chew it up. You've put me in the Christmas Spirit georgie. Now I'm off to think of presents to buy.

  3. I am one of those crazy gals that go shopping that Friday morning. It's a tradition with me and my daughter. Last year we went to Nashville, not sure yet about this year.

  4. I need the answer to megryansmom question as well!!

I went shopping early on black friday last year. It was a nightmare. It was sort of fun though to watch the people. They are seriously mean that early in the morning!! It's just not worth getting up for.

I'm not sure what the holiday plans are yet. I know that we ALWAYS go to my mom's on Christmas eve.

Yes, Jesus is the reason for the season! :)

  5. One time I got up for Black Friday. It is not worth it. The tree that I got up to get? Was sold out before I even got in the door of the store. I ended up getting another one somewhere else.

I love Christmas! I'm actually only three gifts away from being done shopping! Yea!! I always save my reciepts so if an item goes cheaper, I can exchange stuff.

And I love your confession for today!

  6. I always go out. Crazy, I know! I love Fishingfordeals.com as well!
My confession: I still need to get my SS gift!

  7. I love your confession, too! And like Annie I need to figure out what to get her, but unlike Annie, I will NEVER go do that again. I almost took down a lady that stole a gift I had OUT of my hands! Yep! She had a stronger grip, so I was unable to jerk it back from her.

  8. We're not doing a big holiday thing, our family has kind of divided up into smaller groups this past couple of years, so we're all doing our own thing.

NO, I do not shop on Black Friday. The only time I agreed to was when my ex took me shopping to buy my engagement ring and it happened to be on that day. So now, unless diamonds are involved, my ass stays home!

  9. Christmas lights already!!!
    I better get with it.
I do most of my shopping online.
It's the ONLY way to go : )

  11. I LOVE black Friday! I think the excitement is so fun! I get hubby to wake up around 4am with me and we wait in line with some breakfast. We stay out until lunch then crash back at my in-laws house. It's a tradition for us but honestly, we usually don't buy much.

The Thanksgiving tradition in my house has always been getting pizza, chinese take-out, french fries, etc. the night before and reheating it for our meal. My mom's a chef so she's takes a break on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Now that I'm married I go to my in-laws traditional meal but I still get my craziness for Christmas :)

  12. Well I am the weird one, I want to know what the kid said!

This year, my sis and BIL will be home from Houston, so it will be all of us--and my neice's first Tgiving since her adoption

  13. Love your confession! Since my divorce, we've done things on a smaller scale but since we'll have Baby Boo with us this year, I'd better start thinking about getting a few noisy toys to put under the tree.

Yes, when do we reveal ourselves to our SS?

  14. smoochiefrog's SS is SO on the ball!

  15. The past 2 years my honey & I have been up and out with the black friday crowds. It's actually a lot of fun for us. LOL Glutton for punishment.
My mom makes this wonderful rice stuffing. It's the thing my sisters & I look the most forward too! And this Thanksgiving will mark the 4th one in our home. It's a tradition I hope to continue for many more years!

  16. You will have to get the recipe for that Sausage Dressing and share it with us.

  17. We put up our tree the weekend after Thanksgiving, too! I like to keep it up as long as possible!

I am glad there was no suspension after all!

  18. I'm not "allowed" to put any decorations up until Black Friday. We pull it all out and go through it Thanksgiving night, but nothing gets started until Friday. Mr. Smoochiefrog is such the scrooge.

Would you believe I received another package today? It'll be my Friday post. And no, I have NO idea! It's driving me NUTS! As if that's possible to get any more crazy.

  19. I can't do shopping on a normal day, let alone on black Friday...somebody would get hurt! Probably me.

We have a rule in my family...you have to make one present. It's a fun idea most of the time.

  20. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who's excited about Christmas already! I am SO pumped! I'm trying to hold off from decorating for another couple of weeks--but no promises! :)

  21. I NEVER go shopping on Black Friday...unless it's online. I hate crowds and will not fight those...no matter how good the sale is, it's just not worth it for me.

  24. We got a sweet deal on a flat screen TV last year. Our first foray into the Black Friday crazines. I think it was a fluke, someone didn't pick it up right away at package pickup.
