The other night Jess was watching TV and she looks over at me and says...'Hey Mom, did you know it is 2 dimes past 9?' Since I am now a brunette I caught on very quickly didn't even have to think about what she meant...

In other Jess news-that girl can't keep a secret, seriously, UNLESS it involves me, Eric has planned a lil dinner party for me tonight and I have no idea where they are taking me, so I ask the blabber-mouth and I tell you what, that girl ain't spillin the beans...I said BUT Honey I need to know what to wear and the lil smarty-pants said...I will pick out your clothes! pffft

Reese, yanno the 'other' man in my life, he is 14, we went out to dinner this week he ate a HUGE meal, then we no sooner walked in the door that he grabbed a new box of cereal, the new gallon of milk I had just bought and the bowl that goes to my NOT kitchen-aide mixer(but it is big none-the-less) and headed to his room-I kid you not, he ate the entire box of cereal and almost ALL the milk inonesittingaftercominghomefromeatingout! I can't afford him anymore! BOY 4 Sale!

Saturday we will start our first round of Christmas at my MILs she has asked me to bring dip and while I have a lot of dip recipes in my head none are just jumping out at me...I am considering making this recipe BUT would love some ideas from you...so tell me your favorite dip recipe Please, help a sistah out...if you haven't noticed I like easy and quick...

3-8oz pkg cream cheese(bring to room temperature)

1 stick butter(I like land’o lakes, again bring to room temp)

cream both together

add:

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 pkg Hidden valley ranch dip mix

Mix well and put in a shallow dish. Top with Cracked pepper and allow to chill for at least few hours so the flavors are absorbed. Serve at room temp with pretzels OR slice a french baguette and toast the slices, then spread over the bread

  9. I love your blog! Your kids sound like mine. You need to make black eyed pea dip. Seriously. It's SOOO good! I can't paste the link for some reason but go on my blog and search black eyed peas if you want it.

  10. That dip sounds as decadet as decadent gets (and therefore WONDERFUL!).

Was so excited that my SSS partner liked her gifts. Thanks again for hosting.

  11. Thank you thank you for voting for me.
I was a little slow to pick up on two dimes past 9. HA!!
And the story about the other man in your life scares me a little. My son is only 3 and can put away some major grub already.

  12. oh girl, i can't help you in the cooking dept. i would just take a bag of chips and say, "ooops... dear me, i must have left the dip on the kitchen counter!"

and listen, i am going to have to refinance my house if my boys don't stop eating! thank goodness cereal is dirt cheap at walmart.

happy birthday lil georgie. hope those beans make your day special!

  13. I'm a big fan of 7 layer dip: beans, cheese, avocado, salsa, whatever else you like, topped with shredded lettuce, and served with tortilla chips.

    ReplyDelete
  14. That dip sounds good. I am not good at making dips..i buy mine.
    Happy birthday

  15. My favorite dip is one brick of cream cheese, softened, blended with one 16 oz container sour cream. Use either a garlic and herb seasoning mix, OR a salt free herb mix (no garlic) like Mrs Dash, or store brand is fine, plus add real chopped garlic. I love garlic, so I am generous with it. It tastes best if you make it a day ahead, but is still good fresh. I buy jars of already chopped garlic. This dip is great with crackers or fritos.

  16. I had Rebekah but she is now a private blog but I just wanted to wish her an xtra Merry Christmas!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Happy Birthday!

I'm lame. I like the Green chile dip that you buy at the store.

Sorry, I will not take your boy. I can't afford him either.

    Have fun!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Everyone's talking about Justin Bieber...it's like he became an overnight sensation. I would love to meet him in person and push his hair off his face, seriously.

When I read about your son eating a huge bowl of cereal and all the milk after going out to eat, I shuddered. I have 3 boys who will be teens someday. I should probably start a "Teen Boys Eating Fund" now so I can afford to feed them in 10 years.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Happy Birthday Chica! I hope you have a great evening at your dinner...how dare Jess not spill!

So now I'm scared....do all boys eat like that? should I start saving now? Connor is two and this one is a boy too. I dont remember eating a bunch! GEORGIE!!! I NEED answers!! You have freaked me out!! Im off to buy stock in Kellogg.

I would do a seven layer dip OR a can of chili, veletta cheese and a sprinkle of red peppers.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I like dips that are both fattening and a little trashy...know what I mean?

    Mexican dip:
Spread like a pound (or 2 packages) of cream cheese in your casserole dish
Dump a large can of chili on top (i like the hot kind)
Dump a large jar of salsa on top of that
Dump a lot of shredded cheese on top of that
Throw some olives on that, maybe some chilis or a couple jalapenos
Bake at 350 till bubbly. Its so good, I like to eat it with a spoon straight out of the pan, but thats just me.

I've got a great, fattening artichoke dip too. let me know if you would like it. And if you are into being healthy and stuff, EASY hummus that really impresses people.

    ReplyDelete
  21. You are so funny. I love coming over here.

I love to make beer dip, which is a lot like yours, only different: 2 cream cheese pkgs, 1 cup grated cheddar, Hidden Valley Ranch, and 4 oz of beer. Serve with pretzels. Yummy!

OMG-You live in Tulsa? Judy is going to be happy to meet you :) I'll send her your email address, okay? (and I'll tell you where she lives)

Hope your boy doesn't eat you out of house and home...

    Waiting on my SS....

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

  22. I recommended Buffalo Chicken Wing Dip:
pan fry cook 2-3 pieces of chicken and then shred up.
Mix into one jar of T.Marzetti's blue cheese, 1 "normal" sized bottle of Frank's red hot, 8 oz warmed up cream cheese.
    YUMMO!

I still wonder how my parents could afford to raise three teenagers......

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh my good lord I am crackin up!

I have heard that about teenage boys. That scares me. Yikes!

I gotta get back to Christmas stuff. I am scared that there are only 6 days left.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I made this Reuben Spread and took it to a girls night and they loved it. I just used nice crackers with the spread as I do not like rye bread and it was just as delicious!

A whole box of cereal? goodness!

  25. Oooh - that dip sounds fantastic!!

  26. Egads woman! A stick of butter and a block of cream cheese? Why don't you just mix the ranch dressing with a tub of lard?! LOL

Two dimes past 9... gotta be 9:20, right? Wow, I'm good.

Can't wait to see where they bring you for dinner tonight!!!

Off to tell my SS recipient it was me!

    Justine :O )

  27. Why is it when someone puts MIL in a post, I automatically put an F at the end of it? haha! I need to cut back on the porn sites!

Remember when we used to have to tell time by saying "A quarter to the 10" Instead of 9:45?

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'm in dip heaven. Christmas is upon us, I'm having a few people over the eve of and I've been freaking out a little about food. Y'all have resolved it for me, so thank you!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I just got done with school myself, so my brain is fired, so no help with a receipe. Plus I haven't started baking, shopping, wrapping or planning the meal. uh I have to go now

  30. Thanks for stopping by my blog! My 15 year old will be at the Justin Bieber concert, too. She'll be the one shrieking uncontrollably. Wait, that doesn't narrow it down at all, does it?

    Have fun!

Thanks for visiting me @ the Infamous!

    Happy Christmas :)

  32. great blog..glad you found me so now i can follow you!! Oklahoma Rocks!!

  33. A two-week break with no alarm is heaven! Princess Nagger still has school Monday through Wednesday - but then she'll be off until after New Year, so I'm looking forward to the lack of an alarm! ;)

I love the '2 dimes past 9'! I'm so going to use that to confuse PN... ;)

Hope you had a wonderful dinner out last night - happy belated Birthday! December Babies ROCK! :)

I'm glad I have a girl - so I don't have to worry about the grocery bill going sky high when she's a teen. I remember my brother used to drink a gallon of milk a day during those years! Good luck with that! ;)

Here's a quick and easy spinach dip that even PN loves (though she claims she doesn't like spinach):

    Quick Spinach Dip

1 – 10 ounce package frozen spinach, thawed and drained
1 package dry vegetable soup mix
    1 cup mayonnaise
    1 cup sour cream
    1/2 cup minced onion

Combine all ingredients and mix well. Refrigerate as long as possible, overnight is preferable. Serve with crackers, tortilla chips, bread chunks or cut up raw vegetables.

I usually get a sourdough round loaf, cut the bread out of the middle and cut into bite-sized pieces, fill the middle with the dip, then put it on a serving plate with the bite-sized pieces all around. At some point people are pulling the bread 'bowl' apart and there's usually no leftovers. ;)

I had fun finding things for my SSS recipient - and my Secret Santa totally outdid herself on my gifts. Thanks for all the hard work you and Amy put into this! Count me in for next year! :)

Happy FF a day late! :)

  34. Hey there! I have a great dip recipe! I am having a hard time linking to my blog post with the recipe.
    http://anotherchanceranch.typepad.com/another_chance_ranch/2006/09/the_dip.html
You might have to copy and past this link into your browser, but I promise you will love this dip!

Found you on Blog Oklahoma! :)

  35. Wow! Not really sure why my comment says my name is that really long strange number and letter combo. Let's try this again. (But you really need to check out the dip recipe.)

  38. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog. I am feeling you with the milk. Good grief---I have two boys under the age of four and we go through a gallon, like, every other day!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I remember having 3 teenage girls that could eat as much as most teenage boys........ They were not too picky either, they ate most any thing I brought home from the grocery store.

I am glad your first Christmas round went well.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I hope you had a great time at the concert Georgie and also on your date. Your dip sounds yummy and easy. I wish I could help you with a recipe but the only thing they ask me to bring to family dinners is macaroni and cheese (which I don't even like!). My secret is lots and lots of different kind of cheese. The more the merrier. I just did a post about my SS and posted a linky.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Def start saving money now---my son would eat 5-6 meals a day sometimes when he was going through a growth spurt. He's eating more normal now....but it might just be temporary.

Hope your date night went well - Happy birthday!

  43. I had to stop reading the comments, all those dip ideas were making me hungry!

We're not back at school till the end of January, it was really weird to me to have only a short break at Christmas when I was at school in the US a few times as a kid, I felt terribly short-changed :-) (We did 3 trips, with my Dad's work, to the US of several months each when I was 8, 10 and 14.)
