Gas

This is Abby...

She is...

Compassionate
Kind
Thrifty
Shy
Well Liked
Gentle
Caring
Active
Has the cutest freckles ever
 a shortie
Has a heart of gold
a people pleaser
Grapes are her fruit of choice
and I am considering adding a lil dingy to the list!

My Abby girl calls me yesterday from the gas station to tell me the gas wasn't coming out of the hose

Abby: Mom the gas isn't coming out, I push the yellow 87 button right?

Me: Yes Abs push the yellow 87 button and the gas will start

Abby: Mom it won't push

Me: did you prepay?

Abby: yes

Me: then you need to go back to the window and tell them the pump isn't coming on

Abby: MOMMMMM then they will know I don't know how to pump gas

Me: ABBY...srsly! Just push the freaking button

Abby: ummm mom I'm NOT at Murphy

Me: takes a deep breath...where are you?

Abby: Quick trip

Me: #@*&^%$@(&!!!!  then slide the little button UP where you removed the hose

Abby: OH that worked...dad never told me I had to slide anything

Me: Abby?

Abby: Yes?

Me: Is the yellow 87 'button' just a 'sticker'

Abby: Ummmm yes mom....

I guess I should be grateful she didn't put diesel in her gas tank. I typically get my gas at murphy where you just push a button, Eric typically gets gas at QT where there is a 'slider'. We both showed her how to gas up at 2 different stations, thinking this was a good thing...apparently we just confused her more...

My confession for today: I am SO ready for Spring...how bout you?

  1. She obviously was just having a blonde moment! Cut the girl some slack!

    Signed,

  2. Oh that makes me laugh! Your mention of putting diesel into the car? I almost did that last week! Thank GOODNESS the nozzle is bigger on the diesel pump or Lord knows what damage I would have done to the car. I stood there trying to jam it in before I realized it was wrong!

  8. LOL When my daughter learned to drive we taught her how to do the gas, how to change the oil and how to change a tire. She'll catch on. Hope she doesn't stop by one where you have to push the button AND lift up the slider - I have! lol Decided to do FF when I seen you and Blue Violet doing it. Have a great day!!

  24. You tell Miss Abby that she just needs to find a sweet husband to pump her gas for her. Mine started when I was VERY pregnant with Finnegan and I think I have only had to do it myself a handful of times since then.

That Abby just cracks me up!

  25. Oh how funny! The things we have to learn as we grow older. I remember when I had to learn how to pump gas. Wasn't impressed-liked it better when the guy from the station did it for me.

    Have a good weekend.

  30. I can relate to your daughter's situation. O had never pumped gas until I lost my husband. I made a much bigger mess than she. I just learned this week how to hold that thing down and the gas goes by itself while you can get back into the car. You are never too old to learn,

    ReplyDelete
  31. LOL
Hey, we all have to learn.
And I'm totally impressed by the way you talked her through it.

  36. Awww, she is so cute. It reminds me of when my youngest started driving and would ask me to go with her to pump gas. I'd sit in the car just in case "it didn't work" too and then we'd head home. Those were the days!!!!

  49. ha - that's adorable!!
I made a point to show my son a while back, I made him watch me do it a few times while travelling because we don't have to pump our own in our state (we're not allowed actually) and I wanted to make sure he had an idea of how to do it, just in case.
There's so many things we have to teach our kids!!! It's hard!!

  60. Okak - I'm DYING laughing because I have an "Abby" of my own - she called me from college yesterday to ask me how long it would take to make lasagna...finally she interrupted me and said "WAIT mom, I'm not making it from scratch, I'm talking about Stouffers". I said, "Honey, how long does the back of the box say?" to which there was a long pause....

    ReplyDelete
  61. This is really funny. At least she didn't drive away with the nozzle still in her car, like someone I know....not me, of course!
