29 Days of Giving Challenge
I was catching up on FB when I came across So Wonderful So Marvelous latest blog post. She is doing the 29 days of Giving Challenge and has in turn inspired me to do so as well.
The premise is simple really, everyday do something for someone else... from the ning site, 29 Gifts is a global giving movement with nearly ten thousand members in 42 countries. Our collective mission at 29 Gifts is to revive the giving spirit in the world. We change lives—and change the world—one gift at a time. Give one thing away each day for 29 days. Your 29 Gifts can be anything given to anyone... money, food, old sweaters, smiles, your time, kind words or thoughts.
This appeals to me on many levels, but mainly because I think (at least for me) it is so easy to get caught up in our own lives and sometimes live in our own little 'me,me,me world'. By joining the challenge I am holding myself accountable gaining an attitude of gratitude and hope to make an impact on someones life everyday, no matter how big or small. Plus I will hopefully set an example for my own children, who, after all, are a 'reflection of me'.
I won't post every day but I will update my facebook status every day, so if your not already my FB friend just click the FB icon on my sidebar so you can follow my journey.
If you would care to join me and many others on this journey just click below
My confession for today: I think I just did my first act of giving...in the form of SILENCE-while Eric was smacking away on his cereal *ugh* I did not once sigh heavily, roll my eyes or leave the room...I just bared it...I think I am off to a good start =)

ReplyDeleteI tried my own version of that...faded away, will try again! I enjoyed your Eureka Spgs post! mary
ReplyDeleteGeorgie, this sounds wonderful. I guess giving my opinion on the healthcare bill to the next 29 people I see, doesn't count? I didn't think so. LOL
ReplyDeleteKidding aside, it is a wonderful idea. You know, so many times, I mean to do something for someone, but get sidetracked and next thing I know it is too late for whatever I was going to do.
I'll check it out!
Love ya!

ReplyDeleteGreat idea and props to ya girl for no eye rolling, LOL!
ReplyDeletewhat a neat concept! I will have to ponder this one- and think on what I can do before I commit - I guess I can start my 29 days a few days after you. Thanks for challenging us!!!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great idea especially in these troubled times. I find that one can get so focused on their problems that they forget how much they really have.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to take a look at the challenge.
I just joined. Thank you for posting a link.
ReplyDeleteGeorgie, I have a little something for you. You can pick it up here.
