Tulsa’s Twenty New Leaders
benefiting The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
April 1, 2010
Renaissance Hotel

Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease affecting approximately 30,000 children and young adults in the United States.  More than 10 million Americans (one in 31) are symptomless carriers of the defective gene.  When the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation was founded in 1955, few children with CF lived to attend elementary school. Today, the median age of survival for people with CF is more than 37 years.

The Foundation is one of the most effective and efficient organizations of its kind. It has received a four star rating for sound fiscal management from Charity Navigator, the largest independent charity evaluator in the United States, and is an accredited charity of the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance.

The Sooner Chapter of The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will host the 8th annual “Tulsa’s Twenty New Leaders” fundraising event on April 1st at the Renaissance Hotel. Over 400 guests will attend

This event features a distinguished group of Tulsa’s young professionals who exemplify leadership qualities, are active in volunteer roles and contribute to the Tulsa business community. Each honoree is required to raise $3500 in donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Jo Ann Winn, Executive Director, expects the event to net over $100,000. The Sooner Chapter annually raises over $1,000,000 net to help fund CF research.

Each honoree will be featured the night of event with an award presented by the Sooner Chapter Junior Board president, Brad White, a commendation from Governor Henry and a proclamation from Mayor Bartlett.

This black-tie event will feature an exclusive live auction with several exciting packages including: A foursome Golf Outing at Southern Hills Country Club, Dinner for Six at a Tulsa Fire Station, VIP tour tasting for 4 to Far Niente and Nickel & Nickel Wineries with a collection of private estate wines from both wineries, 2009 CFF Event Package, foursome golf package at area golf clubs, Progressive Dinner Packages. The silent auction will have over 75 items including: golf outings, dinner gift certificates, spa packages, concert tickets, tires, yoga, and much more.

The evening includes a seated dinner and music by the Steve Liddell Band. Our bid for a cure speaker will be Miss Lo Detrich. Lo was diagnosed in 1984 with CF. She has had 2 double lung transplants and has been an ambassador for the CF Foundation her entire life. Lo’s speeches are uplifting and inspirational to all those around her.

***There will also be a raffle drawing of a wonderful dining package that includes 4 gift certificates valued at $250( That's $1000 total in fine dining) each to Elements Steakhouse and Grille, The Ivey Rooftop Wine Bar and Lounge on Brookside, Mahogany’s Prime Steakhouse and P.F. Chang’s China Bistro. This is where I am asking for your help, I am helping sell raffle tickets for $10. I know we all can't attend BUT we can have a chance at some wonderful fine dining while helping out a Great Cause. If you live close to the Tulsa area and are interested in a raffle ticket please email (email on my sidebar) me and I can meet you to get you your ticket. If you are a little to far to meet me you can still help by contacting...Jo Ann Winn or Amy Blackwell at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, (918)744-6354 or purchase tickets online at Tulsa CF

The winning raffle ticket will be drawn by the 2010 CF Ambassador Miss Hannah Nicole Hoffman. Hannah is a beautiful 7 1/2 year old. She was diagnosed at the age of 15 months with Cystic Fibrosis. Her family has been blessed with her being a healthy CF child. She takes medication (enzymes and breathing treatments). She enjoys Gymnastics and Broken Arrow Cheerleading. Hannah also takes guitar lessons with her father and wants to be the next Taylor Swift. She loves playing with her friends, her cousin Mckenzie, and her sister Harlee. Hannah is involved at church and has many friends who pray to find a cure for CF.

  1. It sounds awesome! I would definitely be there, but I think 2000 miles is too far to drive. Still, I hope it's a very successful evening!
