Monday Madness

It's Monday well it's probably Tuesday if you live in Australia, I don't judge, they all end in Y some are just harder to wake up to...

Now that my eyes and ears have recovered from the final act on the AMAs last night, did ya'll watch? Right after I saw the 'glambert' performance I went to twitter to see what was being said, I am pretty sure I was still in shock because I said I was undecided on what I thought and Abby was all like WOW mom and not in a good way in the world of WOWs. I was undecided because I don't judge, I had a choice to turn the channel, it's not Adams fault I couldn't turn away from the trainwreck...

Did he stumble/fall or was that planned, I said the same thing when J-Lo performed...did she just fall? Did he really just shove a guys face into his crotch OMGosh and grind... And I seriously thought lady Ga-Ga was all kindsa nekkid in that glass box. If your screaming "Oh No He didn't" at your TV does that mean your getting old? Should I have know it would have been over the top since the announcer kept saying 'stay tuned for Adam Lambert a shocking performance you won't want to miss' theentireshow...

Moving On....

Have you seen that Gap Commercial? I can NOT get that jingle out of my head...I walk around saying it under my breath and a sudden urge to go all plaid and do back-flips...I understand Gap has caused some controversy in the past but I don't do drama, I just thought the jingle was catchy and made me really wanna visit a Gap store...

Two, Four, Six, Eight, now’s the time to liberate

Go Christmas, Go Hanukkah, Go Kwanza, Go Solstice.

Go classic tree, go plastic tree, go plant a tree, go add a tree,

You 86 the rules, you do what feels just right.

Happy do whatever you wanukkah, and to all a cheery night.

Go Christmas, Go Hanukkah, go whatever holiday you wanukkah

I also think I am the only person on the planet that has a huge dislike for green bean casserole, seriously did the pilgrims have cream of mushroom soup? Just in case I'm not, let me share a better green bean dish for your Thanksgiving table

Depending on the size of your crowd, add or take away(hey this ain't no food blog-I use terms like handfuls,as much as you can tolerate, takeaway, smooshed, red rover red rover...)

6 cans green beans drained
1 small onion-chopped
4-5 or as much as you can handle cloves of garlic smooched and chopped-I happen to LOVE garlic
Lots of tablespoons of butter(2 or 3 or more)
a finger full of basil(I use dried)

In a deep skillet heat butter, throw in onions and garlic and get them to that transparent stage then add green beans, stir, toss in some basil, stir, cover, simmer on low heat-I promise these will be the best green beans you have ever had.

So we are 3 days away from Thanksgiving and I am scratching my head...no seriously I am scratching my head-dry scalp I think...anyways our Thanksgiving starts Wednesday where we will attend the most traditional Thanksgiving my motherinlaws, the food is always great and her lemon pie is out of this world, the calf-slobbers are a mile high of yummy goodness. Then Thursday is my moms at noon where comfort and that at home feeling reign supreme and then my fatherinlaws that evening for fun times with my sisterinlaws...

I am Thankful for so very much this year:

Family
Friends
Lays Kettle cooked jalapeno chips
Firewood
The Soldiers fighting a war to keep us safe
The wives/husbands of those Soldiers who sacrifice as well
My bloggy family-that's you and you and you and....

The list could go on and on...

What are you Thankful for?

  1. OMG I LOVE that commerical!!!!! They said Christmas right away...wth!?!?!

  2. The only people I enjoyed on that show was the country ones. I muted the rest and finally went to bed. I did not have the courage to stay up for that Lambert guy.

  3. I saw the last several seconds of Lady Gaga and thought "who IS that wack-a-do?" I'm pretty up on music, but she is one I've never listened to. The other wack-a-do, Perez Hlton, cleared it up for me. Later, I heard she broke her glass case. I missed that and Adam Lambert. It sounds like I should have watched more than just several seconds of that show.

I hate green bean casserole. And I did not see Twilight and I have not read the books. Gasp.

  4. I love that ad too!! Very catchy tune! I watched the beginning of the AMA's and then switched the channel. Looks like I missed out on the best parts...ugh!

I hate green bean casserole too! I always make sauteed green beans with garlic and sliced almonds!!

  5. JLo made an amazing recovery from her fall. You will probably like New Moon, and Happy Thanksgiving!

  6. You know I've been away awhile when I come on here and say, "oh look! new blog decor" and it's probably been like this FOREVER!!!
I miss you, your funny. I lost my funny. Gonna have to put out an APB.
I have not seen this commercial you speak of but I DID watch the AMA's last night, but I might have been drinking a little bit (maybe) and I don't remember much of it. Maybe.
Love you! Please don't break up with me.
If I don't get to talk to you, have a fantastic Thanksgiving.
Oh and what am I thankful for? That I finished the ALLI (down 17 pounds thankyouverymuch) and don't have to worry too much about what I eat on Turkey Day. That makes me VERY happy. Like really, I'm doing a happy dance. :)

  7. The green beans sound delicious and I love the picture at the top of this post. As for New Moon and Lambert and Lady Ga-Ga - so far I've pretty much managed not to see any of it.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I didn't see New Moon on opening day either. :)

  9. Love ya girl, and love the new blog makeover! BTW, I actually did 3 blog posts today and backdated 2 of them, so glad we share a lot of the same opinions!

  10. I love that commercial! That jingle is stuck in my head!

  11. You didn't go see New Moon??? :::gasp:::

  12. Hi!
No, I haven't seen New Moon.
No, I don't like green bean casserole.
Thank goodness I missed the AMA'S.
Looking forward to the holiday though--five days off of school! Oh and the foods pretty good too.
    Have a wonderful holiday.

  14. we might be related...
I did not/do not plan to watch any of the Twilight movies

I HATE green bean casserole, more than I hate green beans

You totally crack me up...wish I would have watched the rest of the AMA's...darn it.

  15. I missed the AMA's and now I'm ticked! I'm going to have to spend some time on youtube now!

Oh, I SO love that Gap commercial!

    ReplyDelete
  16. *giggle giggle* you are so awesome!! Oh, by the way, I haven't seen New Moon and I don't intend to until it comes out on DVD or On Demand. I just don't want to announce it, because there are some die-hard fans around me!! Gap commercials are usually so good. I loved the one they did a few years ago where they were kind of square dancing... but not really. My eyes were mesmerized by all the moving legs and feet in those nice khakis!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Didn't see the AMA's. Don't care about twilight. Gross @ green bean casserole, your sounds good, thrown in some ham if you have Thanksgiving ham for some extra flavor!
Did you notice there is a tiny toddler in that commercial.
Turn the light on? I would think that means there is a secret that I should have noticed a while ago or not even a secret just something -like my daughter has a boyfriend but she didn't tell me straight out and I'd rather not assume that boy that is hanging around is her boyfriend (BTW my daughter is 2 so this is really random)

    ReplyDelete
  18. What a day to jump back onto the scene! I knew I could count on your for a few giggles and laughs!

SO glad I missed the AMAs.

I dragged my hubby to New Moon with me opening night. LOL Good? Yes. Great? Not even close.

Hope you have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I must say I am one of the millions who did see it at midnight on opening night, if your a team Jacob fan then it's your movie, but for us team Edward fans, it was okay! Have a great Thanksgiving!!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. New Moon - no interest
AMAs - saw a few minutes including Lady Ga Ga who made me want to Gag Gag
Green Beans - not in my house (the smell makes my son go Gag Gag)

I am thankful for the modern world which has allowed me to connect with old friends, stay in closer contact with new friends and read funny blogs like yours!

  21. Missed the AMAs, haven't seen New Moon, love the Gap commercial, and hate, Hate, HATE green bean casserole.

Have a great Thanksgiving. I am thankful for my family, my friends, good food, and all the friends I have made through blogging.

All my best and P.S. I love "Christmas Vacation"!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

You are not alone, I did not go see "New Moon" either - and the Gap commercial, I'll just say The Man has been walking around singing it too.

    ReplyDelete
  23. You are not alone, I didn't see "New Moon" either. I just can't get into that.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I didn't watch the AMAs and have not seen New Moon or the original movie. I have not read the books.

I'm out of touch. Oh well.

I like Green Bean Casserole. ;-)

I'm thankful for my family, friends, and my health.

    Enjoy your holiday!

  25. I am just cracking up at this post. You are too funny.
I liked Adam when he was on Idol...last night I was sitting there watching with my mouth hanging open. WTH?? Did I just see what I thought I saw?? He was too over the top with that performance.
Yes, I think J Lo fell after the jump. (at least thats what it said on aol this morn.)
You are not the only gal who didn't go see the New Moon premiere. Shoot, I haven't even see the first one, although I read the book.
I'd rather go see The Blind Side with Sandra Bullock.
I finally posted tonight. Sometimes it's just hard for my brain to get in gear.
You are one lucky gal to have all those dinners to go to.
    Happy Thanksgiving.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I just didn't get that Adam Lambert performance?

It was really bad! I never liked him on Idol, either!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Commentary on New Moon. I thought I could hold my tongue - I do not like to unduly influence someone one way or the other.

My standards aren't that high. I'm so easily entertained. So for something not to hit a mark for me, it has to really be sub-par.

So, all I can think to say is for a 2-hr movie, they spent no time on anything in depth. Everything was like a "briefing" on the situations. I understand they had to cram some things together, but it felt too rushed. If I wasn't invested in the knowledge of the books, I'd have been laughing at the total lack of plausibility of every angle. Edward's leaving was NOT believable.

I can say that it was nice to see SOME development of Jake and Bella's
friendship, their bond, that will mean so much coming up.

Bella to me, is ALWAYS annoying so I thought she did nicely as a mute depressed lovelorn soul. LOL

The CGI wolves were nice. Great facial expressions.

Saw trailer for Pattinson's Remember Me (I think) and I admit I'm curious.

  28. You know my love for you Miss Georgie, but green bean cassarole is the bee's knees. Yeah, I just said that. Is someone using nasty canned beans in yours? The secret is french style frozen (thawed) beans and extra crunchy onions.

    ReplyDelete
  29. You might be the only one who missed Twilight/New Moon but I'm the only one who couldn't care less about the AMAs and missed a stellar performance (obviously).
I'm thankful for a lot of things right now. Mostly my friends and family.
Enjoy your movies and Happy Thanksgiving!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Girl, I don't know if you were OD'ing on those kettle chips when you wrote this, but you had me cracking up! I didn't watch the AMA's but now I'm thinking I should have! Hmmm.... I've gotta see if YouTube has Adam's performance listed. I loves Adam!

    Justine :o )

    ReplyDelete
  31. Okay, OMG, I just watched his performance. And... I love him but... that was a TRAIN WRECK! First of all, I think the song SUCKS... it doesn't seem to fit him at all. Second, yes, he ground that guy's head into his crotch. And yes, he totally FELL!!!! And then sucked face with that chick. Ugh. I just thought the whole thing sucked. Suckity suck suck. Why'd you have to make me watch that?

    Justine :o )

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hi Georgie,
Didn't watch the AMA's. But, I heard all about it on a talk show the next day! Now I'm so glad I didn't watch it!
    Prefer the CMA's myself.

Just wanted to let you know I really enjoy reading your blog.
It's so hard with kids, life, etc. to get around blogland and leave comments as often as I would like to. But, you are one of my very fav's!

Hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

    Hugs,
    Mary :)

PS Your green bean recipe sounds great to me, but do you know what I would face at the Thanksgiving table if I didn't make the green bean casserole with the mushroom soup and fried onions!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh funny friend! I'm still a little uncomfortable after the Lambert performance. Can't put my finger on that one . . . Not a twilight fan and love green bean casserole. Love! I am so grateful that I haven't heard the Gap ad because I've got enough crazy going on in my head right now. Don't need more :) Thankful for you, and SSS and all kinds of good stuff. Have a great Thanksgiving!

    ReplyDelete
  34. so much to comment on... I missed the live AMA, but have caught all the talk shows- wow- I really missed out.

We will stand together as NOT having seen New Moon, I have no intention, either- sorry Tiff and your crazy teenager friends.

The Gap commmercial is catchy, but it's hard to know it's a Gap commercial.

I love green bean casserole. The End.

    Have a great Thanksgiving, Georgie!

    ReplyDelete
  35. You are not alone on Twilight. I read the first book and was not impressed. Never read another. Never seen any of the movies. Never will. And proud of it! I don't understand the mania.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Awe...I'm thankful for you too!! Happy Thankgiving to you! Yeah, I havent seen the Gap commercial, but thanks...Go Christmas...Go Hanukkah...LOL Youre not alone girlfriend...I haven't seen New Moon yet, either...We should go together LOL <3

    ReplyDelete
  37. Me too! I didn't watch the premier of New Moon, but I'll be watching the movie for sure. Not really a big fan, but I appreciate the movie.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I did not watch the AMA and I have yet to see the New Moon movie, much less read the books. I absolutely can not stand green bean casserole. Matter of fact, the only good green bean is either when I am pregnant (stupid craving) or fried. As far as the commercial...yep...seen it. Love it!

Thanks so much for stopping by my site and leaving me comments every so often! Have a great Thanksgiving!

  39. coming out of hiding :)

Georgie....girl....been so busy, sorry I am so late in commenting.

I watched the AMA's too and daughter and I were cracking up at Lady Caca's performance. Then we about had to bleach our eyes out after Adam Lambert's.

Love the catchy GAP commercials, the jingle does stick with ya.

Green Bean cassarole is a favorite at our house so I will be making it :) Yours sounds Mmmm Mmmm good too!

I did go and see New Moon with my daughter and yes I think I did drool on my shirt over Jacob's hot 17 year old bod! I felt like a PERV just a bit :)

I hope to do some damage this weekend to my SSS gift and MM ones. I have put those off so I could catch up with home stuff. Plus there are gonna be deals too good to pass up so hopefully I can get more for my peeps :)

  40. hee hee! You are cracking me up! So add me to the list of women in their 30's whom have not seen Twilight New Moon, dislikes green bean casserole, and scream at the tv while artists perform erotica moves. I wore a slip under my dress for a school performance and was laughed at because no one wears slips anymore. Huh? I guess I am an old fuddy duddy. Oh well. I hope you have a fabulous Thanksgiving! Looks like lots of fun times with your family!

    ReplyDelete
  41. You aren't the only one that didn't go and see New Moon on opening night. I am waiting a couple of weeks for the madness to die down! lol Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

    ReplyDelete
  42. enjoyed on that show was the country ones. I muted the rest and finally went to bed.

    Work from home India

  43. Those are OUR favorite movies, too! No holiday season is complete without our watching both.

Love the GAP commercial. Loved Adam Lambert until the other night, too. Pure sick. Seriously; what happened to him to make him do such a stupid thing career-wise? I would have bought his first CD sight-unseen until watching that ridiculous display. His manager should be fired.

    Happy Thanksgiving, Georgie :)

  44. This is a great humor blog that you have here. I have one myself which I hope to bring laughter to people every day around the world. Life is hard enough, you know what I'm saying? I'd like to do a link exchange so we can spread some traffic around. Let me know if this is possible.

  45. I am one of the few people who didn't watch the AMAs and had no idea what all the fuss was about lol (I have since caught up) I saw New Moon, but it was on Saturday or Sunday of opening weekend.
LOVE the Gap Commercial! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I didn't go to the premiere either but my son is finally taking me to see the movie tomorrow night.

I'm here catching up on my blog reading. Happy Sunday!

  47. You're hilarious! I missed Lambert's "show", and I think I'm glad? As for the Gap commercial, I don't think I've seen it yet...and now I'm going to sit by the tv and watch until I do.
    Have a great day!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Me no likey the green bean casserole either.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I am totally with you on the whole GAP thing. The past is the past. I totally dig the little girl cheer! If that's not just the coolest commercial I don't know what is!
Thanks for stopping by and checking on me. We are doing okay. This baby is kicking my butt! Doesn't he know he has to come out one day!!?! Silly little boy!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Oh PS I STILL haven't seen New Moon. I don't have a babysitter to go with hubby and I don't wanna go by myself. Otherwise I'll be one of those crazy prego ladies that talks to herself or the person next to her. THere are just some things that need to be said during a movie like that!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. PSS How dare you mention lemon pie to a prego lady and not share a piece, let alone the recipe!!
**Off to the fridge to see what she can sub in for lemon pie!**

    ReplyDelete
  52. I missed the AMA's but did hear about the controversy. Very interesting. I've been meaning to actually look up the performance to see what all the hoopla was about but haven't gotten around to it.

Thanks for putting the Gap commerical jingle back in my head. That one sure does stick, doesn't it?

    ReplyDelete
