Where are you going?

So those wonderful ladies of RHOK are at it again this week...with the question "Where are you going on summer vacation?"

The RHOK

Hold on a sec I gotta savor the moment...SUMMER is here!

Okay let's talk summer vacations...when the kiddos were younger planning a vacation was much easier-except for the car sickness-that wasn't fun at all OR all the flat tires, we are always guaranteed at least ONE flat tire on every single trip we have ever taken...last yr I was blessed with 2 flat tires on one trip...lovely...I know you wanna be me =)

Eric and I got to pick where we went and no one complained, we just strapped them into the car seats and away we went...fast forward to present day where EVERYONE has an opinion...

Since all 3 of them have reached the age of hormonal imbalance and OMGosh mom we are in a dead zone my cell doesn't work, we have taken ONE vacation that everyone loved...last years trip to Tombstone,Grand Canyon,Pagosa Springs and Taos-that trip had something for everyone. Lots of smiles...

We have taken them to South Padre and Abby hated it, the seaweed freaked her out...it was my favorite trip, I wanna go back...

Cue Eric...he dislikes the sun and not a fan of the ocean...he is constantly cramping my style with grumbles under his breath of skin cancer....ummm hello sunscreen...He is a Mountain Man and I the Beach Bunny...

So here we are trying to decide where to go...one wants to go to Hot Springs, One to Gulf Shores and one to Branson...so I put the 3 choices in a hat and the destination is Branson...a place we have been more times than I can count...but the biggest kid I own eric LOVES rides so Silver Dollar City it is...I was really hoping for Gulf Shores but BP anyone...

I don't ride, rides you can read about one of our previous trips to Branson Here and see the ONLY ride I rode...I had my hands in the air and everything...

Branson has some great shopping, lots of shows, good food,go carts, mini golf, wax museums, and it's not a bad drive over...we still travel with a puke bucket...just in case...

So tell me...what are your summer plans? Have a favorite destination? Ever been to Branson?

My confession for today: Now to pick lodging...this will be our first year that we need 2 rooms YIKES!

  1. I'm off to the gulf shore...praying that BP doesn't jack up my vacation. We're going with 3 other families and have already rented a big house. Cross your fingers!

  2. Well, son and I are going up to central NY for a few days to get out of the crappy GA heat but our real vacation...it's in September.

We are stealing our five-year-old out of kindergarten to go to to Arizona for 10 days. His great grandmother turns 95 and we're going to celebrate. :)

  3. Branson's close! And no, I've never been. We're heading to Baton Rouge this weekend to visit family and help someone else with home and garden projects. Speaking of which ... :)

  4. LOVE Branson and Eureka Springs...last visit I asked Mr. Wonderful if we could move there. Sadly, he said no. Have fun! Can't wait to read about your trip!

  5. Silver Dollar City sounds exciting! I haven't been there in a long time -One of these days we'll hopefully take a trip that way. Have a good summer!

  6. Haha...my trouble is coordinating around all work schedules! I take a LOT of trips without hubby but with boys...that is probably his fav vacation! LOL

We are doing our usual Tulsa/AR trip and then to ND...these are just 'visiting' trips not beach/theme park/sight seeing trips.

BTW-I'll join you on the beach and Joe & Eric can go do the mountains! ;)

  7. Branson is a good place. We went for Spring Break and had a blast.

We haven't figured out where we are going yet.

  8. I do love me some Branson! I want to retire there, but husband insists we'll do that in Florida. We may retire separately!

We rented a condo once and surprisingly it wasn't too expensive. But then...that was before child #3 so that was 10 years ago. Nevermind. Ya better just look at budget motels!

    Thanks for stopping by!

Our friends are going over on june 18th-21th. We're going sometime then, I have to see what Roy's work schedule is... it changes weekly!!!

Love Branson... I would do the zipline with you.

  10. OMG this sounds fun. Its been ages since I've been to Branson, but we will go one of these days. We will go to Dollywood too one day. My daughter loves her.

  11. We go to Branson quite often although I doubt we'll make it this year. It's gotten too crowded for me. I LOVE staying at the Table Rock Condos (Hunter's Friend Resort) http://www.huntersfriendresort.com/ and if you prefer a motel we really like Mountain Music Inn http://www.mountainmusicinn.com/ We've stayed a variety of places and those are by far my favorites.

  12. Georgie - I grew up in Gulf Shores area…if you are talking about Gulf Shores, Alabama! No matter where you go, you will surely have a great time.

  13. That sounds like so much fun! I haven't been to Branson since I was a kid. This summer we are doing lots of camping and then we're off to Yosemite and the California shores! I'm kinda excited!

  14. I've never been to Branson, but I've heard it's tons of fun. My mom went last year and is going again this year!

It's been about 7 years since I've vacationed, although all these trips in preparation for the move are kinda like vacations. :)

  15. I would go to Branson for the music shows and the scenery, and the shops, and....okay, I would just go! Too bad there is no beach front property there.

    I know you'll have a great time!

Dollywood is also a fun place! Plus there's Cades Cove....and I love Tennessee.

  16. Many, many times I have been to Branson. My husband and I used to go nearly every year. We loved it there, but we like country music. There is a lot to see and do there, but in the summer it is one busy place. You should plan ahead.

  17. I've always wanted to visit Branson. I mean, all I know of it are those tourist commercials, but it looks pretty sweet. We're taking the kids to
Disney in July and hopefully spending huge amounts of time at the beach!

  18. Now did you see the Undercover Boss episode about SDC? I want to marry that man! LOL! I haven't been since I was a kid, would love to take the kiddos!

  19. Branson??? Never been or heard of.

WE are planning NYC so far. Maybe Maui. And I'm hoping a couple of camping trips. Who knows, we might just be lucky and get a job and move or whatever... I'd take that over a summer vacay right now.

    ReplyDelete
  20. You guys will have a fun time. We always enjoy going to SDC. We need to go maybe in the Fall. I don't like going when it's hot. I'm so not a hot weathered girl. But, by Fall Camryn ought to really enjoy it.

Thanks for playing along with the housewives today. Good luck on winning that t-shirt.

  21. I love that Mexican restaurant at that outdoor shopping center in Branson. Yum! We always stay at Fairfield because my parents have a time share there.
I still say your hubs should go to 6 Flags instead. Rides are better than SDC. I love the rides.

  22. Anywhere you go there will be fun : )
Hope to see you this summer!

  23. I decided where to go this year. I get to, because I'm the mom and the only girl in the family - so I pretty much get my way. ;-) A few years ago we went to the beach in Northern California and I fell in love! Mostly with highway 101 - the Pacific Coast Highway. The only problem? One of my kids was serving an LDS mission in Japan, so he didn't get to see it. So, this year, since he's back home, I wanted to go back - have a trip up the Pacific Coast from San Francisco to Oregon/Washington! But, after looking into how much it would cost to get 2 hotel rooms each night ($300 total in those small coastal towns), and drive 2 cars (because we stupidly traded our Suburban for a Pilot - which I love, just not on trips with 6 people), I decided it was going to be much too expensive. My solution. Drive to San Francisco and STAY THERE! We've never been. It looks like a wonderful town to explore. Plus, I lucked out and we are renting a big house - beautifully decorated for $1800/week - ALL WEEK! And we don't have to eat out too often, because we'll have our kitchen, so we'll save on food big time. We can park the small car in the garage and deal with being cramped in the Pilot on our little day trips up and down the coast, so we save on gas big time. I'm telling you - I CAN NOT WAIT! We leave Sunday - drive there in one day (12 hours), stay until the next Sunday and drive home (in 12 hours). Doesn't it sound heavenly?! San Fran - here we come!

By-the-way, renting vacation houses is the way to go - cheaper than hotels, and really nice!

  24. I have been to Silver Dollar City!!! It's been at least 2.5 decades, but I have great memories of it....or great thoughts of memories because I was young, but it was great I hear.

I don't really have plans for the summer. I'm a horrible mom!!!! I must plan something!!! My son is 17.5 so he really doesn't have any happiness towards going anywhere with me for an extended time. We really wanted take a trip to Mount Rushmore and do some travels, but sigh, it's so hot, it's so expensive, it's so far away-we'd be stuck in the car together forever, blahblah.

We did go to Mexico last October for a week, and then San Diego to visit family in March, so if we don't take a vacation this summer it won't feel too weird.

I love the pic of you on the only roller coaster you will go on! One hand up! Ha-you're so brave!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. I love roller coasters! I love mountains. I love the beach.

    I hope I don't ever need a puke bucket. ;-)

  26. I've never been to Branson, though I hear it's way cool (though I would have been all for Gulf Shores too!)

We may take a road trip ourselves (I'm not sure where yet) but my concern is that my three year old is newly potty trained. We can't go back to pull-ups but I dread an in-car accident. UGH! (Whenever I start to get the "baby fever" I think of potty training and that does it every time!)

  27. We are heading to Orlando in a few weeks. It will be Luke's 1st trip to The Magic Kingdom so we are all excited. :o)

  28. I will go to California for the 1st time in late September. But I will host a mid-westerner here in Jersey in just about one month's time! :-)

  30. We are renting a beach house in Cape May in Aug. It is close to beach, shopping, and lots of other fun stuff. It was $1,000 for the week, and we are going to cook most meals there. Plus it came with 4 beach passes, so kids can be on beach all day (too bad I hate the beach, since I burn like crazy and the sand sticks to my sunblock.) My kids, mom, brother, sister and new nephew are all going. I am excited. We have not had a family vacation for over 13 years.

  31. Hey Georgie - long time no talk :) We are planning quite a few camping trips to our favorite place to spend summer - Ludington State Park. Yay!! I will also be traveling with my daughter and her soccer team to KC for a week. By the way, come on by, I'm having another CSN giveaway. Send over all your blogger pals too (although that does lessen your chance of winning.)

  32. I am counting down the days for Greece and then the UK... I need to get away from this heat. Now I wanna go to Bransons too ;0)

  33. My summer hasn't even started yet, but if I go nowhere, I'll be happy, because we just spent this weekend doing what we love to do as a family, and that is camping, in Eagle River, Wisconsin.

    Never been to Branson.

  34. I don't know if you will want to go back to South Padre Island.....The Oceans gonna be a very different place for many years to come. Hope you are doing well chica.

  35. Long time no read! Well I hope you have a wonderful vacation :)

  36. We JUST booked a trip to Shenandoah Valley. It's like camping but in a cabin, aka no bugs and/or bears. Color me stoked.

    ReplyDelete
  37. No plans for vacation this summer. I can't believe we used to live less than an hour away from branson for 6 years and never got to go there even once.

Hope you all have a great time!

  38. Going to Chicago with the hubby for a couple days for our 10 year anniversary. Then a little mini vacation somewhere with the kids.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Probably good call on no Gulf Shores - sadly.

We're heading to Cali for July 4th, and my parent's home, in Northwest Florida on the Gulf, yeah, in August. I'm not sad for myself, but oh how I know my boys are going to be devestated at what will more than likely greet us.

You guys are going to have a blast in Branson.

  40. Ahhh...summertime! I love it! Like you, I love the beach, but John...not so much. He'll go, but he rarely gets out on the beach with me. So, my sisters-in-law decided we'd start a Vest Girls' Annual Beach Trip. We did our second one this year. And it was in Gulf Shores. The oil was beginning to show up on the shoreline Friday and Saturday. If you are EVER going to be there, let me know. GS is only about 4 hours from me, and I could easily make a weekend trip. :)

I've left you something on my blog. :)

  41. Hope you have a great time at Branson. I haven't been there in years!!
I also wanted to let you know that I really love your blog and that I have nominated you for The Versatile Blogger Award! You can go to my blog for the info on it. www.madmomma07.blogspot.com

  42. You know, you could always come to California and visit with me and stay in my guest house for free! My kids are a hormonal mess too, we could lock them all up and talk about them behind their backs.

    Would be fun!!

  43. HOORAY! YOU'RE BACK IN ACTION!!! WOOHOO!! Welcome back :)

  44. Just found your blog and started following you. I saw that you have a doxie! We are thinking about getting one this summer and can't decide on a male or female.

I just returned from vacationing in the Gulf area of Florida. You can read about it on my blog.

  45. Hey! I guess this means you're up and running again?

    Power to the people!

  46. I'm here from Half Past Kissin' Time, and your terrible terrible story about being naked in the Bass Pro bathroom caught my eye. I blushed, just reading about it, imagining something just like that happenning to me!!! Hope it didn't ruin your trip...I LIVE near Branson, and it sure is a fun place!! I learned many years ago--never ride the Thunderation roller coaster backwards...ugh, throw-up. :-)
