SSS Update & SS Gift Idea

Ladies and Gents it has been a whirl-wind of a week! Amy and I beat our own deadline and now ALL SSS exchange partners names have been sent!

We have asked you to confirm that you received your partners name by replying to the email we sent. Please check your spam folders and all email accounts-some of you initally confirmed with one email and added a different email on your q&a (we used the email you listed on your q&a) 74 of you have already confirmed back via email...that means we are still waiting on a few of you...
We ended up with 104 participants-That is Fantastic! Pairing up 104 people was no easy task-we did our very best and I just hope you all will embrace the name you were given and have fun shopping for them. If you have any questions for your SSS exchange partner please contact us at the SSS email and we will try and help you get some answers.

Now since you all have your names and are ready to shop till you drop. I have another great holiday gift idea to share with you.

I LOVE personalized items-it means my girls can't take 'borrow' everything I own. I also noticed a lot of you enjoy personalized items too...

Let me introduce you to Get Dolled Up Boutique where you can find all kinds of wonderful gift ideas.

From seasonal items, bags and totes, monogrammed gifts, jewelry to stationary Get Dolled Up Boutique can take care of all your personalized gift giving needs.

I got to try one of GDUB's products: The Large Solid Tote

I chose the Chocolate brown with pink lettering and let me say this is the cutest bag I now own-it is great for when I go with my dad to his doctor appointments, I can fit Reese's laptop, magazines, books and our lunches and still have room to put more stuff in. I love polka dots and gingham so with this bag I got the best of both worlds. It is sturdy and high quality and Oh-So-Cute!

This tote is $35 which I know is over the SSS limit BUT if you have a college student or soon to be graduate this would make a great gift idea for them. They would be the most stylish student on campus.

From the site:
Makes a great Diaper Bag, Everday tote, or even big enough for an overnight trip!
Personalization Matches handles, unless otherwise requested.

*Measures 18x14
* Zipper Closure
* Metal Feet on Bottom
* Zippered Rear Pocket

Spirit Halloween

On Sunday Eric had to run some errands and offered to take Jess to get her Halloween costume, I personally thought he was on drugs or had been body snatched since he offered to take 'the girls' (the word GO and Abby are one in the same-jingle your car keys and she's at the door) shopping. Most men in their right mind wouldn't offer to SHOP with GIRLS... let alone TEEN girls... but I didn't question him, I was all like 'it's your funeral' in my mind of course...I would never....

Later in the day while I was giving myself a mud mask and body scrub... Abby called---sorry MOM I think you called during my time of zen... (keep in mind Eric is on a hunt for Jessica's costume)

Abby: Momo I got the cutest starwberry costume

Me: Strawberry? Like Strawberry Shortcake?

Abby: Yesssss-it's so cute Momo

Me: I can't wait to see it... Oh what did Jess get?

Abby: She's still looking...

So I am picturing this-don't judge

Or maybe even this-a mom can hope

both photos courtesy spirithalloween.com

Nevermind the fact Abs didn't even need a costume, but hey she found one AND she bought it with her own hard earned money, who am I to tell her what to do with her cash... besides her dad was with her...yanno monitoring things...GOD REST HIS SOUL!

Let me just say that I am a pretty easy going parent-with boundaries of course, okay well sorta...This my friends is what my almost 16 yr old daughter brought home....

And here is the description of said STRAWBERRY costume:  pic courtesy of spirithalloween.com

AFTER Abby came home and 'Modeled' for me....This is the conversation that followed:

Me: So you let our daughter buy a hooker outfit (NO offense meant to hookers)

Eric: She had her own money-she checked out before I got up there...I never saw her...

Me: WE BUY THE HALLOWEEN OUTFITS FOR A REASON! US, YOU AND ME, WE PAY...SO WE GET A SAY-SO!

Eric: silence

Me: uh huh....NO SOUP FOR YOU!

_______________________________________

I will NOT post a pic of Abby in this costume... UNTIL I find a turtle neck and like 2 or 3 belts-with bullets, some ski boots and some ace bandages and I have a drink or 5...she will need them, as will I...I DO have my boundaries...and when I asked her where she was going? her reply....to walk around the neighborhood with Kylie and her lil bro and sis...

As a mom I am speechless...

BUT not my almost 16 yr old...nope her reply....hey mom ...'At Least I didn't Need Shoes!"

Ask me if Jessica got a Halloween costume?-see  my confession...

My Confession for today: Jess comes home and says...'MOM' ...dad said I am 'Decisionally Challenged'! and she says it like it's a bad thing...yiyiyiyiyi

Are you looking for a unique gift for that hard to buy for person on your Christmas List-maybe a grandparent that has everything? Or are you in the middle of redecorating a room in your home and need to fill some blank space?  Secret Santa Participants, in a few weeks you will have your exchange partners name and I think I have found another perfect gift idea...especially after seeing how many crafty bloggers signed up for our little soiree.

Recently I had the opportunity to try Right On The Walls Wall Decor/Art. Their high quality vinyl selection is plenty and they even do custom orders. From your childs bedroom to the kitchen, Special Occasions, Birthdays to Holidays, Car Decals and Wall Clocks just to name a few of their categories. I have always wanted to try wall art but the items I have found in local retail stores didn't look like anything more than a sticker. After appling just one decal I could tell this was anything but a 'sticker'. ROTW sends instructions and the tools you need to easily apply your vinyl wall art in 3 simple DIY steps and the vinyl decor can be applied to walls, glass, mirrors and floors. My 12 year old even applied a pumpkin vinyl decal to our front door. The possibilities are endless. Let your imagination and Right On the Walls decor take your room to a whole new level.

Right On The Walls would like to give one lucky Decisionally Challenged reader a chance to try their products with a $40 gift code.

 How To Win:

My confession for today: I am pretty sure GLEE is my new Favorite Fall TV show!

SSS Gift Idea

Creative Blog Designs

Being the host of the SSS I noticed several of you were interested in bloggy make-overs while reading your Q&A. My own blog is in serious need of a facelift. I like to fancy myself a thrifty gal, I like getting a whole lotta bang for my buck. Since I don't have a clue about redesign I am always on the lookout for someone who does.

While visiting the SSS participants yesterday, I noticed Kritta had a new header and it was uber cute and fit her to a T...the best part, her new header only cost $10!

Where did I find such a deal in this day and age you ask?

Creative Blog Design

Here are some of Beckys offerings and affordable prices

{Button} ~ $5
{Template and Header} ~ $15
{Personal Design} ~ $20

I know right? I said WOW too

Beckys portfolio shows her knowledge and creativity of blog design.

Guess what-I almost hate to share the news with you...

Becky is doing a giveaway for a custom blog design/makeover a $30 value. If you enter tell Becky I sent ya...

So if you happen to get an exchange partner that is wanting a little bloggy redo, you now have an affordable option.

My confession for today: If you enter the giveaway I wish you luck but just know I am secretly hoping I win...just sayin...

10.20.2009

Word!

Because I wanna remember a time when the word 'WHATEV' was NOT part of her vocabulary! She's 8 here(12 now) and I am pretty sure she still loved me and thought I hung the moon...

Okay MAYBE I never hung the moon...but I'm pretty sure she didn't know the word WHATEV okay okay okay she probably did BUT she still loved me...I think...

My confession for today: Amy and I are working very hard pairing everyone up for the SSS

Short & Sweet SSS *Update*

The weather is cool, I have a fire roaring-it's probably not that cool but...it is putting me in the Holiday mood and spirit...I know I know it's not even Halloween yet, I'm as bad as wal*mart when they go putting out the Holiday decor before Oct 1st(mines not out YET). It can't be helped I LOVE this time of year and each day as the SSS list grows and I visit the participants blogs I am reminded there are only 70 days until Christmas...even less for our little bloggy SSS

Today is the last day for Secret Santa Soiree sign-ups. We have 84 confirmed participants-meaning they have emailed us and their Q&A has been sent. The Linky shows 87, if you want to join us, we need an email from you so we can send your Q&A.

What comes next:

Over the next few weeks Amybo and I will divide the list and start matching everyone up with an exchange partner. We will send your partners name starting the first week of November. While your waiting for your partners name why not start visiting some of the other participants, now would be a great time to get-to-know-each-other...

My confession for today: I feel I need to clarify-Reese did NOT have the crabs that was his way of thinking he would get out of a 'shot' he has Poison Ivy and was given 2 different creams and 2 different pills to help put him out of his misery...it has spread to his eye, so we may be going back to the doc for some eye drops...

10.12.2009

MOM I have an itch...

He WISHES!image courtesy google images

That's the text I got at 6am yesterday morning and since I don't text I walked the 20 steps from one room to another to say 'HUH' cuz we are so Proper here in Oklahoma. In which I heard 'Mom I think I have poison ivy'

Let me re-tell you about Reese and Poison Ivy-the boy can smell it and get it, he can walk past it and get it, he can think about it and get it and it almost always warrents a trip to the Doc, for a shot...but it ain't(yes I said AIN't) contagious...

He doesn't elaborate so I toss him some resinol(it's the miracle cream) and a blow dryer(we've been here before) and tell him if the itching becomes unbareable go to the nurse and call me and I send him on his merry way...cuz I'ma a good mom...I gave him cream and a blow dryer...

Ring Ring Ring UGH Ring Ring Ring UGH!

Me: Housekeeping...
Caller: Silence...
Me: Uno Dos Tres'
Caller: MOMMMMM

Me:busted: yeah?
Caller: who will now be referred to as Reese: I'm at the nurses' office
Me: O-K-A-Y
Reese: She wants me to show her my R-A-Ssss-H
Me: So show her
Reese: MOM...it's below my belly button...
Me: *gulp* you didn't tell me this before...O-K-A-Y and...
Reese: It's down there with my junk
Me: What REAL men don't show their junk?
Reese: MOM!!!!
Me: O-K-A-Y I'm on my way....

So anytime you get a rash here you gotta get a doctors note saying you are NOT contagious before you come back to school...I wanna stop here for a dramatic pause...

imagecourtesygoogleimages

Reese: Mom, what's dad working?
Me: Nights, why?
Reese: I think I have the CRABS and I want dad to take me to the doctor
Me: THE CRABS? Do you even know what/how you get the crabs?
Reese: REAL men get the crabs Mom
Me: I thought it was poison ivy? IT WAS POISON IVY THIS MORNING...RIGHT?
Reese: It's the crabs MOM
Me: You don't want the shot do ya?
Reese: Jason says if you have the crabs you don't get a shot
Me: Who the helk is Jason?
Reese: Nevermind MOM-when is dad waking up?
Me: Soon...
Reese: M-O-M...DON'T BLOG about this
Me: Okay son....

Nothings sacred in this household-I had my fingers crossed...just sayin...

imagecourtesygoogleimages

I have obviously failed as a mom...just sayin...I guess that birds and bees talk didn't go so well-no where in my moms manual did it ever say I would have to explain the difference between poison ivy and THE crabs...nor did I ever think my son would think IT COOLer to have the crabs over poison ivy just to avoid a shot...

Since I don't measure up-
(I'm not bitter I only birthed you, breast feed you and changed your dirty diapers, went to every parent-teacher conference, dealt with pissed off parents when you made balloon animals out of condoms and proudly made halloween masks with a tampon stick-where I got a note from the teacher sayin...maybe you should check his back-pack before he leaves for school )
Nope I'm not bitter...Your dads with you at the after-hours clinic where you will see Dr. Mason and I am sure SHE will take good care of you and all your junk...

My Confession for today: Welcome to MY world...I didn't have brothers or grow up with boy cousins...REESE is a learning curve for me everysingledayandheisfourteen!

Not Me Monday

Welcome to Not Me Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama You can head over to her blog to see what she and everyone else have NOT been doing.

*edited to say* This is my first NMM...and MckMama doesn't have her post up yet and being an over-achiever I hit publish instead of save, so I will properly link when her link is up.

I did not knock a roll of toilet paper into the guys toilet and walk away-nope not me, then when Eric yelled 'who dropped a new roll of TP into the toilet AND LEFT IT THERE' I so did not blame it on Reese because that would just be shameless of me. I mean... in the girls bathroom the TP is always on the roller and that would never happen in there.

I did not have to use the guys Irish Spring soap because Jessica used my last bar of carress 'secretly' trying to melt it down and make pumpkin soap molds with an ice cube tray. I did not sing in the shower like the guy from the Irish Spring commercial did either.

I did not hear Eric say he was going to take the last 2 slices of pizza to work for his dinner, so I totally did not eat them before he woke up for my lunch. Then when he went to get his dinner and there was no pizza, I did not say I accidentally dropped them and the dog got them before I could pick them up. I would NEVER blame anything on our sweet lil doggers or lie to my husband.

I did not tell Abby she could miss her cheer game tonight because her bestie got them Miley Cyrus tix, nope not me, because $1500 later, I swore to her shewouldattendeveryfreakingcheerthingnomatterwhat! I would NEVER allow her to miss a game so she could go see Miley nope not me.

I also did not let Abby get her belly button pierced because her dad said NO, ummm no I did not take her and I did not wear a disguise of a big floppy hat and Jackie-O shades and say 'IF YOU TELL ANYONE I WILL SAY YOU DID IT WHILE YOU WERE AT YOUR FRIENDS HOUSE AND I DID NOT KNOW' I so did not threaten to throw her under the bus. That was the mom down the street not me.

When I was sick last week and did not make it to the bathroom in time I did not let my doggy clean up my mess, because that's just gross. I did not try yelling(betweens Blahs) no no no bad dog -don't judge, you try being faster than a weenee doggers that thinks everything is food when your sick sick sick.

Every time I pick Reese up from school he makes me wait for like 20mins while he socializes, so I did not turn the radio up full blast to that Justin Beiber song 'One Time'(he's on the Today Show this morning) and chair dance like a grasshopper in Erics truck, because I would never purposely try and embarress my children, nope not me.

I did not watch X-Men Origins and pause, rewind and slo-mo the Hugh Jackman aka Logan aka Wolverine NUDE scene. I also did not have a dream about Hugh Jackman aka Logan aka Wolverine that same night.

I did not get teary eyed when I watched To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar with Patrick Swayze- my personal favorite movie of his...

My confession for today: 2 days of school then it's fall break-therearenowords!

P.S. Only 3 more days until the SSS sign-ups are closed-have you received your Q&A from us?

Secret Santa Soiree Updates:

♥ I know it seems like we have a lot of SSS updates but until everyone has
been assigned an exchange partner they are neccesary so that everyone is on
the same page, so everyone that wants to join has time to do so and for my
sanity.

♥ So far 70 wonderful bloggers have signed the Linky(below) and 62 people
have returned their Q&A-We are so excited that so many of YOU want to be a
part of this exchange.

♥ If you have signed the Linky and not received a Q&A PLEASE email us at
secretsantasoiree(at)gmail(dot)com we can not send you the q&a until we
have your confirmation email

♥ If you have received the Q&A and returned it PLEASE make sure your name is
on the Linky

♥ If your name is on the Linky and/or you have returned your Q&A and you can
not participate PLEASE let me know

♥ What's all the hoopla about the Linky? It will be how you visit all the
SSS participants.

♥ I read on someones blog how being a part of the SSS last year
helped them make friendships that they still hold dear a year later...That
speaks volumes about YOU as bloggers and participants of the SSS. Since no
one knows whose name they will receive, now would be a good time to start
blog hopping and getting to know each other, while there are some familar
faces/blogs from last year, there are also plenty of new faces/blogs to be
discovered-and you never know...They just may be YOUR exchange partner.

♥ Something to keep in mind 'following' if you want to follow the
participants now would be a good time to do that. Waiting until I send you
your exchange partners name then following is a dead-giveaway that you have
their name, so if that is the route you want to take please consider
following privately so things remain a secret.

♥ The response to Secret
Santa Gives Back
has been great and I want to thank you for
steppping up and offering to be a Mission Mistletoe Elf and/or suggesting
someone.

♥ A friendly reminder the deadline for SSS sign ups is Oct 15th

♥ If you haven't had a chance to read the *411* aka the rules click
here
and if you have any questions feel free to contact us

My confession for today: It's Friday Night Lights, I'm off to buy some 'hot pockets' to keep our hands warm. BA vs Jenks Go Tigers!

Secret Santa Gives Back

Okay ladies...I would say and gents but my 2 faithful male readers yogi and asphalt blogger didn't sign up for the SSS(guys this is open to you as well) just so ya know...nothing says love like getting called out on a blog AND belive me I have been there and this is nothing like it! Don't hate me-I just wanted you to know you were included.

I am so in the spirit of the Holidays, the weather here has a chill in the mornings, DST will soon be upon us(I love an extra hour of beauty rest) and with each SSS email we get... I get giddy

We have a lot of fun with the SSS and it is so easy, at least for me to get caught up in the shopping, the sales, the shopping, the deals, the shopping...I wanted to add a feature to the SSS exchange this year and since the SSS is nothing without YOU-I need your input, your advice, your help...

How many times during the holiday season have you passed that tree in the mall or in your local wal*mart, you know what tree I speak of, right? For all practicle purposes lets call that tree mission mistletoe-I am from Oklahoma and mistletoe is our State flower, it is beautiful and it is meant for kissin' MM for short...

I pass by the trees all to often during the season-always stopping to pick a piece of paper and read what it says: 4 year old boy wants gloves, ball, hat OR 27 year old needs coat,chapstick,gloves...it's hard, I tell the kids, walk up and pick one each-do not read...pick one and walk away....then we will shop...I wish I could buy the whole darn tree...

Now Instead of that tree in the mall or the wal*mart, it's a blog I read, someones husband lost his job, a single mom doesn't know how she will pay her gas bill, someone lost their house, depression hits home...it's a reality that is becoming all to real for me as I read blog after blog, someone we know is effected or is it affected by this economy...

What would you say if I asked for a few of you to step up and be Elves for Mission Misletoe? Above your SSS exchange partner duties...

What would you say if I asked you to suggest privately via email someone who might be in need of a Mission Misletoe Elf?(MME)

Well that's what I am asking, I want this Secret Santa Soiree to be something that is more than exchange gift after exchange gift, I want to pay it forward...This year I want to make a difference in the life of someone, a fellow blogger...do you know one that could use some help?

This year the SSS will sponsor 2(it will be hard to pick JUST 2) fellow bloggers along with anyone who wants to step up and be a Mission Mistletoe Elf-(MME) this will be anon guys-it's not about links, tweets or diggs

If you know of someone in need, having a hard time PLEASE email me(on my side bar)

If you would like to become a mission mistletoe elf(MME) please email me(again sidebar email link)

My confession for today: I know as a whole collective group WE CAN make a difference-Are you with me?

10.06.2009

My husband is cheating on me

I saw him in the distance, He didn't know I was there so I hung back and watched, watched him... with her. I saw his eyes light up, was that a hint of drool in the corner of his mouth? I saw him take a deep breath as he smelled her scent, It was like he savoured every moment before he exhaled.

He looked so happy, like he didn't have a care in the world. What could she possibly offer him that I couldn't?

As I stood there I realized the signs were there all along:

The new number he called over and over on our cell bill
All the new clothes
Always having to make a 'stop' before he came home from work

This had to end and now, so I walked up to him and brought him back to reality and I am pretty sure if I hadn't he would have drained our bank account on her...

Let me introduce you to the husband stealer....

Miss Bass Pro

I caught him red-handed as he was carressing a pair of these

He tried to say 'BUTTTTTTT I was OOOOONLYYYYYY looking'

My confession for today: It's almost hunting season it's like prom for men here in our state or as I call it- The time I become a single parent, married YET single
