Random Tuesday

It's Tuesday so that means it's time for Random Tuesday thoughts brought to you by the unmom

♥ Jess cleaned house yesterday while I was at work (Yes on Labor day-I worked) and while I am sure you all are thinking aww how sweet...me, not so much...I can't find anything! There is a method to my madness and she has gone and messed it all up! OH and my freezer...it has NO food in it!!! she threw it ALL out!!! here is the proof...

So she basically saved 2 pkgs of hotdogs and some freezer burnt duck and some freezer burnt mystery meat! Wanna know how I found out she did this? Of course you do...this is riveting people! This morning when I took Reese to school-it was apparent every critter within a 20 mile radius had a party in my front yard last night- digging through my garbage...

♥ Speaking of my lovely daughter, Jess-she blew up my microwave uh huh...yanno those frozen pretzels that you wrap in a wet paper towel and heat for 30 seconds...well she thought it said 30 minutes uh huh...black smoke rolling out of the microwave from every direction...and all this happened while I was at work...'KID FOR SALE...NO REFUNDS!'

♥ While we are on the topic of children...My oldest Abby drove to Owasso Friday night for the BA football game-it is like a 25 minute drive all one highway...she took her BFF, her Brother and his two friends...I am trying to explain how to get there-there is a little tricky part and it is easy to veer right and head to down town Tulsa via 244 when you need to veer left...well she SHUSHED ME! because at 16 she knows it all and since she had been there before ON-A-BUS, she didn't need no help! pfft an hour and 10 minutes later I still hadn't heard from her...so I called-they had just arrived, she had ummm missed where it got tricky and she needed to veer left, instead she took 244 to downtown and instead of turning around at the next exit...she took the scenic drive ALL THE WAY AROUND TULSA....yea sometimes MOMS do know what they are talking about!

♥ They who shall remain nameless moved my Grandma to a nursing home-I am saddened beyond words-this lady whose main job were the children-HER children, my dad and uncle and 5 grandkids has now been tucked away at a friggin nursing home...yea I am pissed! Nothing like going to visit your Grandmother at the rehab facility only to find a stranger in her room...you guessed it they didn't even bother letting EVERYONE know-oh they told 2 people and their reasoning, THEY TEXT! ummm I really don't wanna hear this via a text message and for the record they didn't pass on the info...yep I'm still pissed!

♥ Have I mentioned lately how much I love my job?

♥ I made decadent turtle brownies, they were gone in 2.5 seconds and I didn't even get one-hows that for random

  1. Well, after all that, you certainly deserve a turtle brownie! I say go get some from a bakery--where you don't have to do the work or clean up)--and eat them all!!

As for those who shall remain nameless--a pox on them and the horse they rode in on! What is it with people sometimes? No one even bothered to call me when my beloved grandmother died. I was 500 miles away, so when I did find out, it was too late for me to attend her funeral. That was in 1983 and I'm still pissed about it! And my mother wonders why I don't call her.

  2. Hahaha at least her cleaning was well intentioned! Thanks for following, I've returned the favor. =)

  3. Yea, I always hated when family decided to put any of my grandparents in nursing homes... it seems like they has people just finally give up... ya know?

I've black smoked our microwave more than once... I probably shouldn't say that out loud huh?

  4. Never let anyone clean out your kitchen cabinets. There is no better way to guarantee family disharmony.

  12. I nearly blew up our microwave when I got the "heat and serve" Indian food mixed up and nuked the one in the package ... with the foil lining.

The maker wasn't kidding -- it was hot!

  15. Oh my! Did you actually have to buy a new microwave? DH nearly set our toaster oven on fire this weekend trying to "crisp up" a chicken fried steak. I know this black smoke of which you speak! :) And yes, I'm expecting. It was a GINORMOUS surprise to us! I think I'm still in shock... :)

  25. There just seems to be days when it goes from worst to worstier(I am sure that is not a proper word). I do believe you are going through some of that time. I trust things will level off and improve in all areas at your home. That is the sad part of aging. We do not receive the care or interest we deserve. According to others, we have lived our lives, move over for someone younger. I loved my grandparents dearly, and thank goodness, they never had to go to a home. Take a deep breath, and things will get better.

  27. oh the stories....there's Kaylen and her Arby's burger which is wrapped in foil - on fire in my microwave. And Austin (my driver) cannot go anywhere without a GPS so we got him one of his own! And seriously the rudeness of not letting you know about your beloved grandma...shame on them! Love ya Georgie!

  28. Sorry to hear about your Grandma. It sucks when family is the one to stick the knife in.

As far as Jess' tale - my youngest did that to a brand new microwave. Tried to warm up a shortcake and set the microwave for 3 minutes. Eldest slapped out the resulting flames with a Tupperware lid. All this happens while I was on the phone with her. She squealed, I said what's wrong, she said oh nothing and hung up. She was 9 or 10.

Kids. Sometimes, you just want to drop them off at school and move while they're gone.

  29. Wow... My husband and I cackled about the pretzel, that is so something I would do! Following you back! Thanks!

  33. Georgie, you are too friggin hilarious. I almost spit out my water at the 30 minutes vs the 30 seconds and then again at the shush I know the way to a place I have been with my eyes on a cell phone while I text someone who is right next to me on that bus....wait, maybe some of that is a flashback. Anyhow, thanks for being such a diligent reader and commenter on my page. This past year has been nutso for me and I haven't been that great of a reader. I appreciate it. I started a blog for the video books so that the kids in my childrens preschool have a way to have a book read to them "just in case" the one you saw Come back Jack and Velveteen Rabbit(which in hindsight was a little longer than I thought it would be, but once you get half way you can't back out.)
The new blog in case you know anyone that wants to watch a book reading....http://www(dot)withgreeninmind(dot)blogspot(dot)com

Have a great week. BTW, I think you should have your kids make you some delicious dessert and have them do an outside of the house errand just before they are done, and then hide the goodies at the neighbors where you can enjoy it with a nice glass of milk and you can wear that mustache proudly!

  34. *At least Jess was trying to help, but no, I don't think I want to buy her. :)

*Heck,if I'd been Abs, I probably would have taken the scenic route too, but she should have called to say, "Uh, Mom, yeah, you were right."

*No one letting you know about your grandma going to the nursing home stinks. We are soon going to have to put John's mom in a home for her Alzheimer's. It isn't that no one WANTS to take care of her, but she has just gotten to the point that she needs someone 24 hours a day to make sure she eats, takes her meds, showers, etc. It's sad.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hey Georgie, follower 590 reporting in! Thanks for visiting and following my blog. Don't ya just love your kids sometimes. She cleaned out the entire freezer? Yikes. And the mircowave is sad - but what can you do. On the other hand what those who are remaining nameless did with your grandmother is awful - maybe they didn't know what to do. At least now you know you have to keep track of things because while a lot of these homes are horrible - but they can be alright if they know a family member is calling and always checking on things - so take heart. I'm glad we're going to be blogging pals. Smiles.

  36. KID FOR SALE? Ha! I love it.

    I'm sorry about your grandmother.

  38. Thanks for posting on FB so I can keep up with your Blog posts. I don't always get updates on Blogger the way I should. i am sorry to hear about your grandmother. SO many people don't like to have older people around as they get more dependent. This is very sad but it sounds like your grandmother would be welcome at least at some family members' house. Maybe you can do something about that soon. Glad to hear you are enjoying your new job --- I am looking for one myself. I am sure Jess was only trying to help. You gotta give her props for that.

  39. Love your sense of humor with your daughter. Reminds me of my kids who know so much more than me. Be glad when they start to think that I am smart again! Thanks for coming by and joining my blog. I am now your newest follower.

  53. They...TEXT? I'm kind of appalled.

And I remember a stovetop incident when I was a teenager too. Fudge takes 45 mins to cook, right?? (I had to chip it out of that pot with a chisel.)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Too Funny! I taught high school English for 18 years, so even though my girls are almost 6 & 8, I know exactly what you are talking about when trying to give any 16 year old directions!

Following you back, and thanks to you for following me!

  55. LMAO! I SO relate!!

Here from FMBT to return your follow...LOVING you already!

  56. Oh man your confession of the day absolutely killed me!!! You gotta wonder, right? Kinda like why do they have braille at the drive-up ATM? Seriously, why?

Is it evil that I giggled when I read your daughter got lost?? I bet next time she won't be so quick to "shhhh" you. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if next time she gets out a pen and paper and writes the directions down as you give them to her!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  57. WOW! At least your freezer is clean though right and you can find everything in it ;) Trying to find a bright side here. And yes 16 year olds do know everything. Didn't you when you were 16? I sure did.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I'm sorry, but I laughed out loud when she blew up the microwave! I believe I'd think twice about letting her clean up the kitchen again, although, how's she going to learn if she doesn't "do"!

  59. What is the secret in raising children who will clean?
    The microwave incident is hilarious!

    ReplyDelete
  60. 30 MINUTES? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! And I love how Abby didn't want to listen to Mom and ended up taking a long scenic route... :)

    ReplyDelete
  61. Sounds like you had a rough go of things! And there is something seriously wrong when the person taking the time to bake scrumptious goodies doesn't even to partake in the eating of said goodies... WRONG, I tell ya! ♥♥♥

  62. Turtle Brownies sound wonderful.

  63. Oh honey....is all I can say!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Bwahahahahah!!!! THIRTYMINUTES!!! That SO sounds like something my kid would do!!! THIRTYMINUTES!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Oh wow. That really bites... but ummm at least for someone on the outside, it's mildly entertaining. I can only wait until the wee ones are old enough to cause that type of damage!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Wow, 69 comments! I'm so late, but I am following you back from FMBT. Oh, I think I will be dreading the days my little boy becomes a teen. They sure do think they know it all--the microwave blowing up--well, that's just classic! I hope you have a great weekend, and I'll save a brownie for you...

    ReplyDelete
  67. Funny, your freezer looks like my fridge last week. After eating apparently what was some questionable salad dressing & being deathly ill for several days I threw away everything that had a date that was within the week! My neighbors teenager heated up some cinnamon rolls for 30 mins. instead of 30 seconds. All the smoke detectors went off & the microwave stopped working.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Ugh -Kids whatchgonnado! I agree sounds like you deserve a brownie ;)

    ReplyDelete
  69. Oh no about the pretzel, funny I was just cleaning out the microwave...put in a glass of water and Clorox let it go for 6 minutes and BOOM, all of it exploded all over and dripped all over the stove, but hey it is now extremely disinfected!

I am going to re-read about the 'follow' deal. love your blog..having rough days..but hopefully can get to the happy days on mine again. Yours definitely cheer me up!
